THE EURASIAN DECEMBER 2016

VOL 78 ISSUE 53

Hello dear members, well another year has almost ended doesn’t seem that long ago we were ringing in the 2016 year. The Remembrance Day lunch was well attended where we started off with a minute’s silence to remember all of our loved ones followed by the Last Post before adjourning to the field to burn the offering notes and the release of white balloons. Lunch soon followed the ceremony where we enjoyed the smell of the cooking of Mee Goreng by Phillip de Mello and other delicious food such as Bacon Ambila and Braised Beef Noodles and we were then entertained by Gary Aviet. Thank you to all the cooks, drinks people, cake makers and helpers for your continuous support and help during the year as in the past it is much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you again in 2017. I would also like to extend my thanks and gratitude to the members of the Management Committee, your friendship and support during my first year as President is valued greatly, Since our last lunch many of us attended the annual dinner at the Bentley Pines where we enjoyed the usual good food and company our thanks to Joan Reincastle for organising the dinner. Don’t forget the Christmas Lunch & Party does not start until 12 noon so please don’t turn up early as you will not be able to get in. A gentle reminder that our membership year finishes as of the 31 st December so your membership is now due for renewal, Charles Reincastle will be on hand to collect your subscriptions at the Sunday Lunch and that due to time constraints we may not be able to issue your membership card at the Lunch but it will be sent to you with the next newsletter. Also available from any of the Management Committee are forms for the following: Ida da Silva Award Andrew Clark Award Ivan Richards Award AEAWA Academic Scholarship and the Tony Quintal Excellence in Learning Scholarship On pages 8 and 9 you will find a letter from the Hon Mike Nahan MLA Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Interests that he has sent to organisations like the AEAWA. Our next lunch will be Sunday 12th February 2017 but in the meantime on behalf of the Management Committee we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy 2017. Carol Richards President
