GIVING STRATEGIES

The Charitable IRA Naming Adventure Unlimited as a beneficiary of an IRA or qualified retirement plan is the easiest and quickest way to leave a bequest – even more so than through a will or trust. It’s becoming an increasingly common strategy for making a charitable bequest, and it works for any qualified retirement plan, including IRAs, 401(k)s and 403(b)s. You can also name Adventure Unlimited as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or commercial annuity.

What’s good about this approach?

• Easy to accomplish. Just complete a new beneficiary designation with your retirement plan administrator. Include this information: Adventure Unlimited, 5201 S. Quebec. St., Greenwood Village, CO 80111 Tax ID #43-0798771 • No taxes. If you leave retirement plan assets to family, they will owe income taxes on the distribution.

Leaving retirement plan assets to Adventure Unlimited completely avoids income taxes.

• No legal fees. Naming Adventure Unlimited as a beneficiary of an IRA or retirement plan doesn’t cost any legal fees, although you should always consult with a professional advisor on any estate planning matters.

• Tax-free required withdrawals. Individuals 70½ and older can direct required minimum distributions from their IRA to Adventure Unlimited without paying taxes on the distributions.
