HEART OF CHRIST

Have you ever felt your blood boil, gone weak at the knees, or had sweaty palms? These vivid idioms illustrate emotions so intense that they manifest physically.
In ancient times, the gut - not the heart - were considered the seat of deep emotions. We still use terms such as ‘gut-wrenching’ or “sick to my stomach” to describe profound feelings. The Gospel writers often depict Jesus experiencing deep compassion for crowds and individuals (Matthew 14:14, Mark 8:2). The Greek word translated as “compassion” literally means to be “moved” or “torn up” in one’s gut with love and empathy. Jesus felt love so profoundly for those around Him that He experienced it physically.
And He invites us to be remade in His image. Does our love for one another—within our homes, churches and communities—run so deep that we feel it in our very being?
As we spend this time together, I pray we allow God to renew us in His image, both at camp and beyond. May His love not only stir compassion in our hearts but move us to action—expressed
through support, service, and selfless sacrifice for those around us.
“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God” 1 John 4:7.

Parents are reminded that their responsibility for their children does not cease when they come to camp. While every care is taken and there are activities for children, camp is not a child minding facility. The conference does not take responsibility for the care of children during camp. Their absolute safety cannot be guaranteed. The ultimate responsibility for the care of children always remains with parents or guardians. Please ensure that the conduct of your children and young people is adequately supervised through the camp period, and that your children are fully under your control between meetings.
ATM is located at the Stuarts Point
Takeaway, cash up to $50 can be taken out at the General Camp Office as available.
Departures from camp should not be planned during Sabbath hours as a courtesy to other campers, apart from exceptional circumstances.
Keys are available only to those with a disability card; a $20 refundable deposit is required, payable by credit/debit card. Keys can be collected and returned to the front Registration Office upon arrival and departure. They must not be kept for Grey Nomads camp or future Big Camps.
Please observe a modest standard of dress and deportment. Loud and offensive language is not accepted or tolerated.
The camp ground is designated an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free environment. Alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs are NOT to be brought onto the Camp Ground. Offending people and their entire campsite will forfeit their rights to be on the grounds for the duration of camp.
We want to hear what you have to say. The feedback form will be available starting this Thursday (24 April 2025). Please make sure to fill it out with your comments or suggestions. The survey will be open for one week from Thursday. Keep an eye out for the code and let your voice be heard!
Camp is not to be used to further personal business activities. Campers are asked not to distribute, sell or canvass anything that has not been authorised by Conference Administration.
See open hours on page 6. Refund of furniture deposit ($50) will be paid to your nominated bank account upon return of furniture together with your Furniture Voucher to the shed. No refunds on furniture will be issued after Sunday, 27 April 2025.
There is a camp curfew for all campers at 11:00pm. This means that there will be a quiet-down period from 10:00pm, and that all campers should be in their accommodation and no noise between 11:00pm and 6:00am. Please have Christian consideration for others.
All lost property should be handed in to the General Camp Office. Please identify your own lost goods there.
Noise levels are not to disturb other campers.
Due to the size of our camp, we will attach any messages to the notice board on the outside back wall of the kitchen. We would appreciate your checking the notice board periodically.
Authorised vehicle entry to grounds will be between 6:00am and 10:00pm. One vehicle only per site is permitted; any additional vehicles must be parked in the car park. Provided sticker MUST be displayed at all times.
Car parking in designated car parks only. Only road-registered motorbikes can be ridden on the campground within the speed limit of 10km/h and keeping noise to a minimum.
Most people taking photos of children at Big Camp are doing so for acceptable reasons and using appropriate methods. However, it is worth noting that many photographs taken in public places will include subjects who have not consented to their photo being taken. In Australia,
generally speaking, there is no law restricting photography of people (including children) in public spaces as long as the images are; ? Not considered indecent ? Not being used for voyeurism ? Not being used for commercial purposes without a Model Release/ Consent.
However, where an event is held on private property, such as Yarra Holiday Park, the owners of the private property are able to restrict or ban photography. Understanding this, the NNSW Conference requests that you adhere to the following guidelines when it comes to photography at Big Camp: Authorised photographers under the Communications Team have been employed to take photographs at Big Camp. They will be wearing a staff lanyard. If you do not wish your child to be photographed by the photographer for any reason, please contact the Camp Office and identify the children.
If you are taking photographs that include minors, please endeavour to restrict the images to those children that are related, or known, to you.
Due to child protection issues, photos of children at camp, other than those that are directly related to you, should not be posted onto the internet, social networking sites or any other form of electronic carriage service.
Photography within the Children's Division tents is restricted to authorised photographers only. A designated 10-minute time frame will be provided at the conclusion of select programs, allowing parents to capture photographs of their children alongside tent leaders and against the tent backdrops.

Hi, there, I’m Peau Afoa, and I’m currently pastoring both of Narrabri and Moree churches. Angelo, Iosefa, and Sia are our three adolescent children, and my wife Julieanne works as a registered nurse. Before attending Avondale University to earn our degrees in Theology/Ministry and Registered Nursing, we spent twenty years or more living in Melbourne. Being called to the Lord’s ministry is a blessing.
We are thrilled, and privileged to be hosting the Hyperactive Faith tent with our enthusiastic volunteers this year!
Our theme is The Heart of Noah’s Ark, which is centred on the love of Jesus Christ. We are motivated to accept this role by our son Iosefa, who has both autism and ADHD. We pray that every child, regardless of obstacles like autism or ADHD, realises their values, learn about Jesus, and is constantly reminded that they are soldiers for God’s Kingdom.
