OBITUARIES Akers, Russell Roy, born 28.12.1923; died 12.9.11 in Kings Langley Nursing Home, NSW. He was predeceased by his son, Brian. Russell is survived by two children, Russell and Annette (both of Sydney). As a family man, Russell enjoyed his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Although many of his family are Adventist, Russell resisted all attempts to get him to church. However, in his latter years he moved into the Kings Langley Nursing Home where the care and kindness of the staff led him to yield to Jesus’ claims on his life. To the astonishment of his extended family, he was baptised 18 months before his death. Russell now sleeps with the assurance of being ready for the great resurrection day.
