Rays Wheels, a local start-up online store. A start-up that aims to create unique products raging from toys to custom PC cases inspired by vehicles and other car parts.

The company planned in making a fidget spinner inspired by a mag wheel, whch will be made through CNC milling machine

The task was to design a fidget spinner inspired by the Volk Rays TE37 rims.

Initials concepts, and rough 3D models were made, it was then consulted until the finalization of the design was made.

The final design was then sent online together with the mechanical drawings.

Chynna’s Meat Product is a local company that sells a variety of raw meat products, ranging from Homemade Bacon to Longganisas. It is owned by Mrs. Amore Aquino from Cavite. The main office is located at J. Munti Villanueva in Cavite, Philippines. The brand was formerly known as “Kabitenas Meat Products” before it was passed on to the current owner.

The company is a part of PCLEDO which had a partnership with De La Salle College of Saint Benilde’s Industrial Design Program.

Industrial design students who were currently taking a practicum subject at that time were partnered with the startup companies that was a part of PCLEDO. The students were tasked to redesign and/or design a label and/or packaging for the products that the companies were selling.

PCLEDO supports and assists small local businesses that is situated in Cavite, Philippines to grow and expand.

DESIGN CONCEPTS The designer was tasked to redesign the label for the packaging and the logo of the company. The design caters to the target market (Class C).

The product is sold at Imus Public Market Cavite, Philippines.

Three Label designs were made with two kinds of variation. The first variation was made to have a space for a barcode, and the other one had a list of which flavor the food it will package. Colors depend on which flavor of the raw food it will have for easier identification.

The label will be slipped inside a plastic packaging together with the raw meat.

The designer was tasked to redesign the label for the packaging and the logo of the company. The designer was contracted to design and produce a headboard cabinet by Mrs. Vicky. The produced cabinet will be placed as a headboard of a bed. The function will angle the bed, as the room it will be placed in has angled walls which hinders the bed in being positioned perpendicular to it. Designs and revisions were made until a final design has been derived with proper dimensions.

The design was then brought to Marivic Carpentry Shop by the designer, which was then monitored once. The product was made and delivered to the house of Mrs. Vicky.

The design of the headboard cabinet has a chest like storage to maximize the space that it will take up. Shelves were also implemented to store small items overhead. Wood was used as the material, which has the same material of the house it was designed for. A dark coating was appropriate for the design to contrast the white walls.

The design has a detachable cover with holes for gripping it when removing. The edge of the cover is tapered to avoid any sharp edges.

Manila Fame was a three day event that was held up at World Trade Center, Philippines. Design Center is partnered with Citem for the organizing of the event. Citem is the export promotion arm of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The office is located at: Golden Shell Pavilion, Roxas Boulevard cor. Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue. My head for the event was Ms. Windy Anonuevo. We were divided into small groups which was then assigned to different booths. The booth that was assigned to the designer was “Ripples plus” it has a partnership with DTI and several design companies.

The event was held in three days, (Oct 20-22, 2017) but we were already in the event prior to the dates, as we conducted the ingress. During ingress the designer was tasked to manage and take note of what the workers were doing in setting up the booth. The designer was responsible in making sure that the booth design was being followed and the companies’ product arrive safely in the sight. During the event the designer’s responsibility was to take note on interested buyers and make sure that everything in the booth goes well. After the event the designer help the companies pull out their product from the booth and make sure everything is complete.

All the On the Job Trainings that I took were all a learning experience for me as a young student designer. None of those things was easy and straight forward, but it helped me in improving myself and to always do my best.

It helped me learn and understand on how to work with big companies and public events as well as small private companies and other contracted works. The works that I did varied from manning, designing for a startup, and even a contracted work, I liked those variety of areas that I worked with to have a “feel� of what the real world as an industrial designer would be like.

I believe that all these works that I have done is a start of something bigger in the future.
