Applying his unique eye for exceptional craftsmanship, Sassoon has collaborated with the spectacular Parham House in West Sussex, to stage a panorama of new works by his celebrated contemporar y ar tists. In a period without ar t fairs, the project fosters a dialogue between the precious objects and the textures of the interior architectural feature. Reflecting the rich collecting spirit of the house, which includes one of the finest and most impor tant collections of 17th centur y embroider y in the countr y, the display intelligently introduces contemporar y ceramics, glass, and silver to the antique textiles, furniture, and paintings. Issue Three ‘Parham’s Rich Tapestr y’ is the third and final instalment in our series of catalogues and explores the connections between our ar tists’ exceptional skills and the craftsmanship which went into the creation of the historical treasures within the house. Par ticular attention is paid to surface ornamentation and creative techniques employed both then and now.
