COMMUNITY EVENTS G E T I N VO LV E D ! Want to join a resident-led program, or start one yourself? Reach out to our Life Enrichment team for opportunities to get involved. Community Sing - Join the All Seasons Singers in the Grand Living Room to sing with your neighbors. Did you know there are several proven emotional and physical benefits of choral singing? Singing in community strengthens feelings of togetherness, regulates heart rate, reduces stress levels and depression, improves symptoms of Parkinson's and lung disease, improves feelings of social well-being, and can even increase life expectancy. Ray Funk will lead songs from diverse genres and styles, and all vocal parts and comfort levels are welcome. Poetry Gatherings Roger’s poetry workshops include readings followed by Writers’ Gatherings in which residents are encouraged to bring and share their own poetic creations. Roger Pierce, a native Texan, has lived in Tucson for more than 20 years. Roger has tried to retire several times, but, as he says: “I just can’t seem to get it right.” Ordained to Protestant ministry 54 years ago, Roger served 20 years as a Navy Chaplain, then as a hospice chaplain in Tucson, just to name a few assignments. “I’m a poem-maker”, he commented recently. “I’ve been creating poetry for almost 50 years and my shelves are lined with three-ring binders filled with poetic efforts.” Men’s Social Coffee Meetup Join us on Fridays! “Solving the world’s problems…or not.” An affinity group meeting every week to discuss pressing topics and active living in the 21st century.
Current Events - A topic-based, residentmoderated discussion forum for all residents. Book Club - Once a month, each third Wednesday in the Library, join your neighbors for a Book Club discussion on some of the Bestselling Literature of the day. Contact your Life Enrichment Team for more information on obtaining books for August and September. Knitting and Textile Arts Club - Knitting and Textile Arts Club meets every Wednesday, continuing to develop skills and projects using techniques such as knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. Textile art is one of the oldest forms of art in human civilization. With its myriad of visual possibilities and rich history, it's no surprise that contemporary textile artists such as our Oro Valley residents showcase the vast differences that are possible when dealing with fabric, thread, and yarn.
