MESSAGE FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ART MARTIN

One of the privileges I enjoy while serving as your Executive Director at All Seasons Oro Valley, is learning about each of you, meeting your families and loved ones, and listening to your life stories and experiences. In kind, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and what life enrichment programs I am most excited for coming to the community in the future months.

I was raised in the farmland of Essex County, Ontario and completed my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing while attending Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. During my time at Wayne State, I had opportunities to intern at the Detroit Medical Center and supported myself with various jobs, such as valet parking the lunch crowd at Joe Muir’s Seafood Restaurant (those of you from the area will recognize that name!) While completing my degree I met my future partner, Sherry. Sherry was born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii where she attended Punahou, and then the University of Hawaii, obtaining her degree in civil engineering with a focus on transportation. She moved from Hawaii to the Detroit area experiencing her one and only midWest winter!

I was then accepted into the master’s program at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and we moved to Tucson where we have been ever since. I also completed my MBA at the University of Arizona’s Eller College. I have since sworn off further degree programs… I have worked in the senior living industry my entire time in Arizona with stints in hospice, working for the Department of Health Services as an inspector, and then moving onto management roles such as my position here at All Seasons Oro Valley. As some of you might know, I was with Handmaker for fifteen years.

Our Life Enrichment Program at All Seasons Oro Valley has a lot to offer this quarter. I encourage you all to join us at our signature performances by pianist Khris Dodge on July 21st and guitarist Eduardo Costa scheduled for August 9th. We will be hosting events such as a paired wine dinner that I know Chef Robert has in the planning stages. I also understand the All Seasons community recently made a major donation to Jose Women’s Shelter and look forward to working with everyone in future philanthropic endeavors. I hear working with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) on behalf of foster children is being discussed. Thank you for giving me this time to share a little about myself and to inform you of the great programs coming to our community. I look forward to getting to know all of you better and always welcome you to stop by and see me for any concerns or just to talk.
