Merry Wives of Windsor at Village Theater - August 17 Mistress Page and Mistress Ford have a very large problem – a drunken rogue who won’t leave them alone. Sir John Falstaff is short of money and on the hunt for a lady willing to take him on and pay his bills. The ladies get together and hatch a hilarious plan to thwart the pest – if only their husbands are able to stay out of the way. The Merry Wives of Windsor is famously the result of Queen Elizabeth I demanding that Shakespeare write a play featuring Falstaff falling in love – and how else could such a request play out.

Ann Arbor Bonsai Society Show at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens August 27 Award winning trees from area enthusiasts, with bonsai and bonsai supplies for sale.

Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra - September 9 Your Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra launches its 2022-2023 season in style with an electrifying opening-night performance of Beethoven, Simon and Rachmaninoff. Acclaimed Israeli pianist Inon Barnatan joins the A²SO to star in Rachmaninoff’s fiendishly virtuosic Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a work that demands the utmost skill and stamina of the soloist as they seek to walk its tightrope passages with high-flying aplomb. Hear it alongside Carlos Simon’s This Land, a striking work of dichotomies that blends faint hymns and anthems of immigrants over a hopeful yet hesitant orchestral tapestry.

University Musical Society (UMS) presents Trevor Noah - September 16 The Emmy and Peabody Award-winning host of “The Daily Show,” is widely known for his social commentary touching upon issues of racism, immigration, incarceration, and the protest movement. Born in South Africa to a Black South African mother and a white European father during apartheid, Noah knows what it means to live in a divided nation, and he brings a unique perspective in his incisive social and political criticism of the larger issues at play in the U.S. and in the world today. His “Back to Abnormal” tour marks his first live UMS appearance.
