JEREMY FLANERY

While somewhat of a newcomer to the senior living world, Jeremy is no stranger to the hospitality industry. Jeremy brings 20+ years of hospitality experience to his role at All Seasons Birmingham. He has spent most of his career working in luxury properties in Florida, California, and Michigan, most recently managing the David Whitney Building in downtown Detroit. To Jeremy, ‘hospitality’ is not an industry but, rather, a way of life, an opportunity to brighten residents’ day with a kind word or gesture, enriching lives – offering family reassurance their loved ones are in the best of hands. His guiding principle is to remind staff, daily, to treat all residents with respect, compassion, and dignity – everyone is to be cared for with the utmost respect, as we would our own family. Originally from Fort Wayne, Jeremy spent most of his youth in Indiana followed by a long stay in Florida, before returning to his Midwestern roots here in Michigan several years ago. Outside of work, Jeremy most values time with his wife and son, and particularly likes spending time outdoors. Who inspires you? I’m constantly inspired by my wife, Karlin. Her strength, wisdom, and love are unmatched, and she inspires me each day to be a better role model for my family and my employees.

What’s the best place you've traveled to?

Most recently, I took a backpacking/canoeing trip in the U.P. which was amazing. The solitude and overwhelming sense of nature were humbling and I look forward to making this an annual trip!

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

I enjoy nearly every aspect of my role here at All Seasons Birmingham. If I had to choose one thing, I’d say the people. I am incredibly fortunate to work with such a talented team to serve our amazing residents. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the people in this community! What’s your favorite movie? “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a classic that I watch every year on Christmas Eve!

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

Most of our residents know that I have an affinity for all things fungi. I recently received my certification for Expert Mushroom Foraging from the State of Michigan. I also love to cook and explore new recipes with my son, including sourdough bread and homemade sauces. Have you met anyone famous? One of my former positions was a Chef Concierge for a luxury resort, where I handled the details of our numerous celebrity VIP guests – the most memorable of them would be President George W. Bush. I even got to drive in his presidential motorcade transporting Secret Service to the Marine One helicopter!

Favorite things to do on the weekends?

Spending time with my family hiking and enjoying other outdoor activities.
