BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER AT ARTIS-NAPLES NOVEMBER 21-22, 2022

I should have known that a 4-cylinder sicky Green DeSoto Would turn out to be a no-no . But at that age - what did I know?

I drove to pick up my date . She said “I’m not going in that old crate” So that was the end of Kate .

Then I went to call on Eileen . She said, “Not in that old crate . ”

Next I drove to see Alice . She looked at me with malice .

I then thought of Dorothy dear, But she said, “Call me next year . ”

Then I thought I should trade it in And went straight to the dealer, Whose only offer was a Simple two wheeler .

So I stopped off at Molly And off we went to a dinner and movie by trolley! The Berliner Philharmoniker is widely recognized as one of the finest and most highly esteemed orchestras in the world . Led by Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko, the Berliner Philharmoniker makes its Florida debut — during its first U .S . tour with Petrenko as chief conductor — with a pair of back-to-back performances in Hayes Hall . The first program of the venerated orchestra’s debut opens with a performance of acclaimed American composer Andrew Norman’s Unstuck, originally inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel SlaughterhouseFive . The program also includes Mozart’s Violin Concerto No . 1, performed by Berliner Philharmoniker 1st Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley, as well as Korngold’s Symphony in F-sharp major, described by the late composer Dimitri Mitropoulos as “the perfect modern work . ” The second program of the esteemed orchestra’s debut features Mahler’s luxuriant Symphony No . 7, written in a matter of weeks following a long summer marked by writer’s block and met with great critical acclaim at its premiere . Mahler’s masterpiece is a triumphant journey from darkness into light, oscillating between the two themes and eventually bursting into daylight in its rapturous finale .
