International Baccalaureate Programme
The International Baccalaureate (IB)offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools.The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.To this end the IB organization works with schools,governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The IB consists of three programmes for students aged 3 to 19 that help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.There are more than 5,500 IB schools in 160 countries.
The Primary Years Programme
EBI is authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).The PYPis designed for students aged 3 to 12.It focuses on the total growth of the developing child,touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical,emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.The PYPdraws on research and best practice from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging,challenging and significant educational framework for all children.
The Middle Years Programme
EBI is authorized to offer the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).The MYPis designed for students aged 11 to 16.It provides a framework of learning which encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers.The MYPemphasizes intellectual challenge,encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world.It fosters the development of skills for communication, intercultural understanding and global engagement, qualities that are essential
-IB programmes are recognized around the world and ensure an increased adaptability and mobility for IB students. - The curriculum and pedagogy of IB programmes focus on international perspectives of learning and teaching,while insisting that students fully explore their home culture and language. - IB World Schools must undergo an exhaustive authorization process in order to offer one or more of the programmes, which includes a study of the school?s resources and commitment to the IB mission and philosophy.
