Tuition Assistance
EBI?s Tuition Assistance Program is a need-based program that allows EBI to provide its unique and exceptional education to students from a broad economic spectrum. The program is one of the tools EBI uses to attract and retain a community of students and families who advance and reflect the school?s mission, enrich the learning environment, and is a manifestation of the school?s core values as they relate to economic diversity.Admission to EBI and EBI?s financial aid program are open to families of any race, color, religion, gender, disability, nationality, ethnic origin or family composition. For the 2022-2023 school year,30%of EBI students received a tuition adjustment, with awards ranging from 5-90%of tuition.
Selection
EBI considers admissions decisions separately from tuition assistance decisions.Applicants for tuition assistance are referred separately to the Tuition Assistance Committee to determine their amount of need.Tuition assistance is based on the demonstrated need of the family and the availability of school funds.Tuition assistance may be less than demonstrated need.
Renewals
Tuition assistance is made for one year and may be renewed, subject to parents completing the tuition assistance application each year.Families can generally expect that tuition assistance will continue throughout the student?s enrollment, but the size of the assistance will vary as the family?s financial circumstances change.
Priorities
EBI gives first consideration to returning families. Additionally,EBI prioritizes students enrolled in elementary grades (kindergarten and above)over pre-kinder students.
Computation
Families applying for assistance must complete the online FAST Application each year. The financial, family and tax information provided in the application is used in an algorithm that takes into account income, assets and other resources, as well as the number of children, financial liabilities and living expenses. The result is a Recommended Award from FAST which suggests how much a family can afford for their children?s independent school tuition. This Recommended Award may be adjusted by additional information the family may submit or discuss with a member of EBI's Tuition Assistance Committee.
Resources
EBI will consider the resources of both natural parents,if living, in calculating a family?s need.In the case of divorce or separation,EBI expects both parents/ guardians to contribute to the payment of their child?s tuition regardless of legal agreements.A student?s custodial and non-custodial parents, as well as those parents?current spouses, are expected to submit required documents.Any financial support that may be available beyond the parents?income and assets should be reported on the FAST application for consideration. These might include resources from grandparents and other relatives.
