CIO, CHRO & Head - CSR Message

Dear Colleagues,

Mr. Vijay Sethi CHRO, CIO & Head-CSR

I am delighted to bring to you the fourth volume (Q4 FY 19-20) of Hero Universe magazine. Through this, I wish to share with you all the major areas of work and the initiatives in Q4 at various locations and functions.

It was on 9th January 2020 that during the Town Hall, our CMD and CEO unveiled our New Vision, Mission and Value which will guide us for years to come. It is for each one of us to ensure that we all work towards our New Vision and Mission and uphold the values at all times. This FY until now has been challenging for overall automobile market and for us. With the present market persisting the way it is, Hero has taken it as an opportunity and has continuously focused on investing in the area of product and capability development. BS VI has been the game changer for all; Hero has strengthened our product portfolio by building products of the future, which are BS VI compliant. By bringing our first BSVI compliant scooter – Pleasure+ 110 FI and bike Super Splendor, we are ready to face the future. Further, in these trying times, 'Hero World 2020,’ was a first-of-its-kind, three-day event at the Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur, Rajasthan. This event was organised for the global media, investors, dealers from India, supply chain partners and global distributors. With this Hero MotoCorp curated a unique approach to display future technologies, products, and services Our heart beats for the rider’s community in India and worldwide. We are working massively on areas, which can create a platform for people across India and the world to experience the thrill of biking. Bringing Dakar rally on the Indian television, which garners massive eyeballs worldwide, or hosting Xtracks – Live the Thrills in Chandigarh, we are continuously marching and creating experiences for our customers at large. We are proving that we are the leader of this arena. 3

Hero have always supported sports at the grassroots level in our country. Sports for us is a part of building stronger and healthier India. In this regard, externally we were part of the sports event like Hero Challenge and Khel Mahakumbh to name few. Internally our Hero cricket team was actively participating in many corporate cricket events striving hard to bring the cup home. Hero Campus Challenge (HCC) was an opportunity for the students of various colleges to get a peek into the world of Hero and be a part of it, by working on Hero’s real business challenges. Over the years, the HCC has evolved into a prestigious platform that nurtures India's future business leaders. Building on the previous years, Season 5 received an overwhelming response from 32,152 students across the country's top institutes of higher education. Unfortunately Covid-19 Pandemic has led to challenges for the entire world and the most vulnerable is the under privileged community. As a part of massive CSR support and relief work for the needy, we are supporting the community by providing substantial meals daily from all our manufacturing locations and CIT. Dry rations were supplied to families in Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Kerala. Masks and Sanitizer are also being supplied, majorly to the police personnel and medical staff who are our front line forces battling the pandemic. Across plants, many activities are also being planned and fulfilled on a continuous basis. Staff & contingent workforce hiring, focus on training and development, overall employee wellness and other business agendas are uniformly being driven across all the locations at Hero. I hope you enjoy reading this edition of Hero Universe and I look forward to your feedback for the upcoming edition.

Regards, Vijay Sethi CIO, CHRO & Head – CSR

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS Automobile Macro-Economic Trends Indian two-wheeler market started the 2020 keeping the negative trend in place and losing 14% in January and 19% in February, with March projected 29% down, at the 16th consecutive year on year lost. The effects of Covid19 will further deteriorate the outlook. Motorcycle sales in India skyrocketed over the past few years, making the country the biggest motorcycle market in the World overtaking China since the 2016 and achieving a record volume of 22.4 million units (including commercial three-wheeler) in the 2018. During the 2012-2018 period over 124 million of new bikes have been sold in the country with annual increase of 8 million units, a too fast growth for a country with still poor urban and extra-urban infrastructures. However, starting from the last quarter 2018 the market is declining and all single month in the 2019 was reported year-on-year declining with final score for the entire year at 19.3 million units (including Rickshaw, electric scooters, local manufacturers and importers), down 14.4% from the previous year, losing 3.1 million sales. Several factors causing the slowdown, including an increase in insurance premium in 2018 and the new BS-VI emission norms that took effect in April 2020. So, while other observers forecast the sales to continue slipping for a few more months .In addition, the economic effects of Covid19 will further hit the market. Total sales after two months of the 2020 have been 2.8%, with January down 13.8% and February 19.8%.

Hero’s Performance Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, sold 5,01,622 units of two-wheelers in the month of January 2020; 4,98,242 units in February 2020 and 3,34,647 units in the month of March 2020. In March 2020, the auto industry and the entire global economy faced an unprecedented disruption, owing to the novel coronavirus. The COVID-19 has resulted in interrupted supply chains, halted production and lock-down, leading to no retails. With COVID-19 situation escalating through the month of March, Hero MotoCorp stepped up a Business Continuity Task Force and pro-actively rolled-out a slew of measures to ensure health & safety of its employees and business partners. On March 22, the company proactively suspended production at all its manufacturing facilities – including in India, Colombia, Bangladesh and Global Parts Centre (GPC) at Neemrana. The Company also set in place a work from home policy for its employees at all Corporate offices and the Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT), Jaipur; except for those whose physical presence is necessary to run the day-to-day essential services

orwegian Viktor Hovland loves Chicken Tikka, a taste he picked up as a junior in Scotland in 2013 and is now looking at picking up some Trophies after winning the Hero Challenge, which he jokingly called his ‘first’ professional win.

Hovland showed amazing wedge play at the Hero Challenge under the lights at the iconic Yas Marina Formula 1 Circuit. Norwegian Hovland, 22, a former World Amateur No, 1, uniquely scored with every single shot and beat World No, 1 Brooks Koepka in the semi-final. He then beat former Open champion, Louis Oosthuizen with another precise show. Hovland became the 11 different winner in 11 editions of the hugely popular Hero Challenge, where the players are required to aim at coloured zones worth five, 10, 25 and 50 points from a customised platform about 100 yards from the target. With his final shot of the night worth double, Hovland found the ‘Bull’s Eye’ for 50 points, which was doubled for 100. His total of 190 points was way more than Oosthuizen’s 55 and it fetched Hovland the Trophy presented by Dr. Pawan Munjal, Chairman of Hero MotoCorp. Hovland, who played soccer and taekwondo as a youngster started focussing on golf in Grade 8. He is now one of the best young pros on the PGA Tour.

t was a truly humbling experience for Hero Motocorp as these 69 specially abled girls and women underwent a training on basic computer skills and advance training on Tele caller skills and documentation skills as part of our CSR project ENABLE. Their parents were also apprehensive about the future of their daughters. But yesterday, during the interaction at the Graduation Ceremony, these

specially abled girls and women demonstrated that they are no less capable in any ways than a normally abled person. Their enthusiasm and will power was seen to be believed. Many of them have already got job. With this, we have skilled 1000+ specially abled candidates and today more than 60% of them are working.

T

he fifth season of Hero Campus Challenge (HCC), an initiative by Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler m a n u f a c t u r e r, concluded with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur emerging victorious in the Engineering and B-school categories respectively. Both the winning teams received a prize of Rs 2 lakhs while the two runners-up teams received a prize of Rs 1 lakh each. All 30 individual finalists of HCC - Season 5 were offered pre-placement interviews at Hero MotoCorp. Season 5 of the Hero Campus Challenge received record-breaking registrations from 32,152 students (10,717 teams) from both, B-Schools and Engineering colleges, when it was launched in October 2019. All the teams went through multiple assessment rounds over the course of the past four months. The competition started with the first round of online assessment, to check the basic domain knowledge of the teams, followed by an idea elevator pitch round where the selected 1,092 teams had to present the details of their solutions. The students then proceeded to the virtual presentation round where 80 shortlisted teams presented their detailed idea to the Jury. In the end, only ten teams qualified for the grand finale. All the finalists went through an extensive mentorship period with the senior leadership team of Hero MotoCorp, to prepare them for the finale. All ideas focused on bringing sustainability in the shared mobility space and the optimum use of artificial intelligence in current operations. "Hero Campus Challenge provides an engaging platform to youngsters for bringing creativity and fresh perspective to the table. Over the years, the HCC has evolved into a prestigious platform that nurtures India's future business leaders. Building on the previous years, Season 5 received an overwhelming response from the student fraternity from across the country's top institutes of higher education. Participation in HCC has increased every season and, on our part, we have ensured that we raise the bar in terms of complexity, competitiveness, and challenge. I am sure that the next season will be even bigger. In my view, all the selected teams are winners, for the simple fact that from almost 11,000 teams, only ten made it to the finale. Being a youth-centric organisation, we will continue to bring innovative platforms to promote young talent in our country", said Vijay Sethi, Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Head - Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Hero MotoCorp Ltd.
