CIO, CHRO & Head - CSR Message

Dear Colleagues,

Mr. Vijay Sethi CHRO, CIO & Head-CSR

I am delighted to release the next edition of Hero Universe magazine. Through this magazine, we wish to share with you all the new updates in various fields taking place throughout our organization.

This year until now has been challenging for the automobile industry however our morale has been high and keeping with the ethos of being the global number one we became the first two-wheeler manufacturer in the country to get BS-VI certification on June 10th 2019 for our Splendor iSmart motorcycle. Our much awaited move to a elegant new office at Hotel Grand in Vasant Kunj got completed in August. This lively new office with ultra-modern interiors and vibrant colours brings in positivity and collaboration. Our Hero Talent Show initiative, helped us bring the talent of our employees' children on larger stage. Motivating them and appreciating their talent is just a small step in acknowledging how much our employees and their families’ mean to us. For the younger lot, Kids Dayout was another initiative which helped us bring the families together. Career Counselling was organised for children which included online assessment and one-on-one session with experienced counselors. As we move and create benchmarks in different areas of automobile business, the time was also right to stop by and create a platform to renew our association with our ex-employees. Our Alumni Network Portal is one such initiative that will continue to strengthen our bond with our Alums. In the D&I space - Diversity & Inclusion Month: "Celebrating the Unique You" campaign was started to celebrate and applaud the uniqueness that we all bring. In line with this, D&I Talks Session were organized with personalities who have overcome odds and barriers to transform their lives. We had an all Female DET batch of 50 joining us which took our overall female 3

employee count to over 1000. With a continued focus of building female leaders across levels - Women in Leadership (WIL) 3rd batch was inaugurated in June. On the CSR front, we undertook a mega plantation drive of planting 5 Lakh seed balls under the Hero Green Drive initiative. Under the same initiative we were also awarded the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for maximum families participating in one single drive. We were bestowed with Mahatma Award - 2019 for having a Greener, Safer and Equitable world. We were also awarded the “Shiksha Vibhushan” Bhamashah award by Chief Minister of Rajasthan for the contribution in the field of Education in the state. I hope you enjoy reading this edition of Hero Universe and look forward to your contributions for the upcoming editions.

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS Quarter Highlights Macro-Economic Trends GDP growth projection for 2019-20 has been successively revised down from 7.4 per cent (in February 2019) to 7.2 per cent (in April 2019), 7.0 per cent (in June 2019) and to 6.9 per cent in the 3rd bimonthly policy of August 2019. In Q1 FY20, automobile sales witnessed the sharpest decline of 10.5% y-o-y in the last 5 years. Q2 has seen a similar story. There are several reasons that is attributed to this prolonged decline, but the biggest one is the overall week consumer sentiment that is pervasive in the economy. In addition, the crisis in the NBFC space has led to a liquidity squeeze, resulting in a drastic decline in the number of fresh loans to the auto sector. Other important reasons that have contributed to the weakness include new safety norms starting April 1, 2019, higher insurance costs, higher ownership costs, and increased load carrying capacity for M&HCVs leading to high inventories at retail (dealers) level causing slow movement in the wholesale movement of vehicles.

Wheeler Industry Performance Till Date Two Wheelers sales registered de-growth of (-) 12.93 percent in April-July 2019 over April-July 2018. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters, Motorcycles and Mopeds declined by (-) 15.58 percent, (-) 11.18 percent and (-) 20.17 percent respectively in April-July 2019 over April-July 2018. Upcoming Q2 results will pave the wave for product and policies correction for every stakeholder related to this business.

Hero Performance Hero sold 18.4 lakhs vehicles during the quarter which was lower by 12.5% on a year-on-year basis versus industry which was lower by 10%.This included the effect of reduction of inventory by more than 80,000. Revenue was at `8,030 Crores. EBITDA margin was 14.4%. Profit before tax included an exceptional item of `737 Crores. The reported PAT is `1,257 Crores versus `909 Crores last year same quarter, which reflects a 38% increase. The underlying PAT after adjusting for these exceptional and one off items is `786 Crores for the quarter. Q2 data is awaited.

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS Launch of New Scooters & Bikes

M

ay 1, 2019, will always be remembered as a landmark day for not just Hero MotoCorp but for the two-wheeler industry - the day when we launched not just one, or two but three premium motorcycles, including the most-awaited motorcycle of recent times - the XPulse 200; the other two being the XPulse 200T and Xtreme 200S. Along with the Mega National Media Launch, we also organized the Test Rides of the bikes for the Media - the XPulse twins in Bengaluru and the Xtreme 200S at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.

Media has been extensively reporting on these bikes since launch and their response has been very positive. Even the initial responses received directly from customers on social media have been overwhelmingly positive. This Mega Launch has taken the brand equity of Hero up by several notches, thereby significantly contributing to the Premium Journey of Hero MotoCorp. Just over a week after the high-decibel launch of our new premium motorcycles, we introduced two new scooters - the Maestro Edge 125 and Pleasure+ 110 - to media at a Press Conference. We also gave media an opportunity to ride the scooters. There was an extensive media reportage across the country on these launches. The response on social media was also very positive and our hashtag #MaestroEdge was trending on twitter for quite some time.

CAPABILITY BUILDING Talent Speaks MT 2019 - Poshita Agrawal “My Management Trainee induction was the perfect way to kickstart my career. I honestly couldn't have asked for a more enriching and exciting experience! Our outbound leadership programme at Jim Corbett was nothing short of phenomenal. It helped all 20 of us to bond, with this nascent phase binding us. The Auto Heritage Museum was a treat as it exposed us to the vintage world of the auto industry. All of this was cherished, but the cherry on the cake was the Hero Plant visit. Seeing a bike being manufactured every 17 seconds was an experience and further propelled my excitement of joining the automobile industry. The most essential part of our whole tenure was the multiple functional trainings we did at plant and on field: Sales & After Sales, Supply Chain and Sourcing, Operational, Finance, Human Resource, Information Technology. The training was very efficiently and brilliantly designed to give us some hands on experience of how Hero Moto Corp functions and helped us dig deeper into the company work culture, strategic area and functioning. The most challenging experience for us was our "BIG IDEA " presentation to the company, where we were supposed to take up a real life challenge the company was facing and how we as Management Trainee can solve it. The challenge was enthralling and the result, more so. Our idea was implemented if after strict evaluations, it meets management's thought process. We ended the amazing induction with an engaging sports day, filled with activities and team bonding. My induction at Hero MotoCorp was nothing short of enriching! I personally loved how each member at top management made time to interact with us and was genuinely interested in what we had to say. The humility and empathy in this company amazes me, I hope in my entire journey at Hero MotoCorp I continue to meet people with such strong values and beliefs."

GET 2019 - Ashwini Milind Udapure “I just wanted to reach out and say thank you to company for such a wonderful Induction Programme and introducing us to the Hero Culture. It helped us to understand the ecosystem of an organization. It started with general induction of three days letting us know the Code of Conduct of HMCL, Various departments of HMCL making it as an organization. Then the fun part of our induction programme was “Out Bound Training” consists of various fun activities which taught us situational behavior as per Code of Conduct of an organization leading to conclusion that we should think about the solution for any problem and not to focus on problem. It was like making us comfortable with company environment. The Induction Programme is designed so perfectly that my personality is gradually changing from a student to a corporate work person. The Gurukul training has major role in developing us in technical aspect for getting ready for to be an employee. The training modules are divided to train us in every aspect so that we can sustain in any department of an organization. It was great experience learning all the departments of the company and we will ensure that this knowledge will impact our work style in future.HMCL made us fell us well cared of during Induction Programme, meeting with not onlyknowledgeable but also friendly person made us very comfortable even at unknown places. Thank you for making us Hero Family.”
