1_OVERVIEW Since the beginning ATMI has consistently carried on the spirit of innovation in order to be always on trail with the development of industries and technology. The production-based technical education concept is the formula that helps ATMI to overcome the high education cost and fee while giving the students of ATMI the opportunity to learn sense of quality and high discipline so that their products can be sold to the market affirming the high quality products.

Quantum Change and Transferability

The masterplan is designed to reduce ambient heat around the building and promote positive interaction for the people in the campus. Integrated landscape design will promote the quality of the environment, not only within the academy but also the neighbouring site. The innovation on design/ architectural solution can easily be implemented on other development. Careful selection of materials and architectural treatment should minimized maintenance cost and easy to be implemented.

ATMI Cikarang is located strategically in Jababeka Education Park surrounded by more than 1,200 companies, housing estate, shopping center. The site possesses well developed infrastructure with roads and all utilities. The land is zoned into areas for educationalinstitutional uses. In the spirit of innovation, environmental awareness, and to meet current and future needs. Designing energy efficient buildings alone are not enough therefore we design an integrated masterplan that promotes higher standard of learn, live, and work environment.

2_VISION Our vision is to join ATMI and Holcim on this collaboration of design and innovation that will promote the campus as a Living ECO-system . A well designed and sustainable campus is a bold action leading to a healthier, more productive, and economical that benefits people and the environment. 2 Keys of our Visions a_Campus as Living ECO-system a_Model of good practice of Holcim’s Target Issues of Sustainable Construction.

3_APPROACH + STRATEGIES The masterplan should provide opportunities and building infrastructure for people to interact. The academy is not just a place where students live , play and learn , it is a woven fabric of people who interact, communicate and create customs, objects and relationships – it is this social capital present in academy environments that makes change possible The masterplan should be able to reduce heat island effect with integrated landscape and building design, maximized open space/ softscape. Water management, waste management, active cooling system, and other innovative technology such as photovoltaic system are integrated part of our design.

The new buildings are arranged as a sequence of related architectural incidents that can be enjoyed independently of as single experience.

achieve our ambitious goals of sustainable campus/building design, we have to reduce the gray energy in the building. Maximizing the use of sustainable material such as concrete/cement for flooring.

The architecture of the building should be able to demonstrate the advantages of using innovative/creative design that promotes local products and materials while improving building performance (low energy/carbon).

...not just another energy efficient building...the campus is a real time/space demonstration of how to learn, work, play, and live. Producing innovation that benefits people and the environment... a catalyst for a positive behavioral change...

The architectural treatment should be able to reduce energy consumption of the buildings, easy to implement, and low maintenance.

Ethical Standards + social equity

The masterplan (intergration of buildings and landscape) is an important part of the quality life for the students ,enabling behavioral change, we believe that sustainability and better environment can and should be generated from behavioral change. We believe that the academy is not just a place where students live, play and learn , it is a woven fabric of people who interact, communicate and create customs, objects and relationships – it is this social capital present in academy environments that makes change possible.

Passive Cooling

The masterplan is designed for a comfortable atmosphere in the site. To keep the building cool is to cool the micro climate. Micro climate moderation can be achieved with careful planning of the landscape, orientation and massing of the building, selective use of materials for hardscape. The building is designed to accommodate client’s brief with low energy consumption and comfortable temperature/atmosphere.

Liberating the Ground

To efficiently accommodate the Academy and maximized open space, the building are elevated above ground. The space below the building can be use as public space while allowing the cool wind blows the cooler air to the workshop and the other part of the site.

Series of connected open space

Ecological quality + energy conservation The design creates new image/identity to ATMI, set an example of good practice of sustainable design/construction/technology. Maximized open space, by minimizing building foot print and elevating the building to create shaded public space on the ground floor. The open space will be planted with big trees and productive edible plants for the students consumption. Use materials that are harvested and processed in the region, rapidly renewable materials that have a ten-year regeneration or less, such as bamboo and linoleum.

Liberating the Ground for public activities

Adaptive + Economic Value The use of local materials and low construction technology will help to create opportunities for the people and generate economy during and after the construction. Instead of being prescriptive it is necessary to establish a process which provides enough flexibility and adaption. The process has to enhance creativity instead of establishing constraints.
