The Medical Faculty At Amu

The Largest faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University are the General medicine faculties. At the faculties highly qualified specialists are trained in the field of "gen- eral. medicine"

Basic subjects of the medicine are mainly taught on the I-III years, clinical subjects on the IV-Vl years.

Graduates of the faculty, enrolled in the residency, can receive education in the following specialties: anesthesiology and resuscitation, general surgery, neurosur- gery, plastic surgery, cardiovascular surgery. traumatologyorthopedics, otorhi- nolaryngology, ophthalmology, neurology, psychiatry, narcology. phthisiology, infectious diseases, immunology, allergology. physiotherapy and medical reha- bilitation, radiation diagnostics, radiation therapy, microbiology, anatomical pathology forensic examination genetics.

At the faculties of I, II General Medicine, research is provi -ded to study various problems of medicine and their solutions.

Clinical Experience Options In The Usa

Azerbaijan Medical University MD Students now have the Duration: 6 years exciting option of Clinical Experience in the USA both during their programme and as post experience in Year 7.

AMU MD with USA Clinical Experience

Azerbaijan Medical University students have a unique study package which includes Clinical Experience in the USA.

This exciting and essential experience allows AMU MD students to have the chance of voluntary medical experience under the supervision of a medical professor or consultant in a University hospital and health centre environment. This allows AMU MD students to build the essential references and recommenda- tions that they need for further USA Fellowship application as well as a wider rang- ing medical experience opportunity.

AMU MD Students can opt for either a standard Clerkships package of 4 weeks each years inyears 3, 4, 5 and 6, or packages of 6 weeks in the same study years. There are also options to buy in further 4 week blocks if required.

The Stomatlogical Faculty At Amu

Highly qualified specialists are trained at the faculty of dentistry in the field of "dentistry". At the faculty along with the basic subjects of medicine, the following are taught: prevention of dental diseases, therapeutic dentistry, orthopedic dentistry, oral ad maxillary surgery, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, implantology.

In the dental clinic of the University, founded in 2002, specialized subjects are taught at the highest level. In the equipped classrooms, department of X-ray diagnostics and dental technical laboratories of the clinic, students undergo practical classes, acquire practical skills and take part in various surgical operations.Graduates of the faculty can continue their education by entering the residency

Stomalogy Faculty of Azerbaijan Medical University was organized in 1954. The aim of the foundation of the faculty was to provide the population of our Republic with highly skilled dentist specialists.

Generally, 13 doctors of sciences, professors, 32 dosents and senior teacher, 46 candidates of sciences, 24-senior teacher, 89 assistants, 33-teachers work at the stomatology faculty.

The Pharmaceutical Faculty At Amu

The pharamaceutical faculty teaches the basics of pharmaceutical science. Beside specialized subjects,stud -ents are taught subjects of theoretical medicine.

Students of the faculty receive knowledge and experience in the introduction of modern methods of chemical analysis and the acquisition of new drugs, as well as detailed information about the quality and impact of drugs on the body. Students also take part in research activities in the field of medicines production

Several Doctors of Chemical and Biological Sceinces working in Azerbaijan National Academy of Science are graduates of the Department of Pharmacology of the Azerbaijan Medical University. Nowadays the most active graduates of the department continue their education in Master's level in the specialties such as pharmacological technology, pharmacologic chemistry, toxicological chemistry and pharmacogonosia.

History of education in pharmocology in Azerbaijan begins with the year of 1938. Our Department of Pharmacology trains highly qualified pharmaceutist with Bachelor's, Master's degree to work in health, including pharmacology field. Our department teaches the student basis of pharmacology - search of sources of medicines, methods of controlling the quality of medicines and preparation of different medicines. Students obtain knowledge and skills in implementation of modem methods of chemical analyses and purchase of new medicines.

Students also get detailed information on possible impact of the medicine on organism, as well as to study the quality of medicine.

Nowadays there are more than 6500 highly educated pharmaceutist with Bache- lor's and Master's degree in Azerbaijan. Almost all of them are graduates of AMU's Department of Pharmacology. 11 persons has recently defended thesis for Doctor's degree and 44 persons PhD in pharmacology in the specialty chairs of the depart- ment.

Term of Master's level education in the Department of Pharmacology is 2 years. Today more than 350 local and foreign student study in the department getting their Bachelor's and Master's degree in Azerbaijani, Russian and English languages.
