Hello! I'm Aditya Wad, a fourth year undergraduate student at Sir J.J. College of Architecture. I am an enthusiastic learner and have a keen eye for detailing. I'm hard- working and always trying to improve my skill set.

I truly believe, that any piece of architecture should speak for the sociocultural fabric, traditional construction and culture of the locality. The architectural piece should emerge from the surroundings and must not feel like an alien structure. I'm curious about using traditional construction practices in a contemporary sense.

Type: Institutional Location: Manali, Himachal Pradesh Year: 2023 (Sem 6, 3rd year) Guide: Ar. Nina Thomas Brief: To design an Ecology research centre for bachelors, masters and PhD students, along with ancillary buildings including labs, library, canteen, multipurpose hall, etc.

MASTER PLANNING: In the local settlements, the general planning observed is, higher the contour, higher the importance. Hence institute block is at highest, labs, libraries, canteen,etc. below it and housing at the lowest contour.

ARCHITECTURE: Following the local architecture style, the campus is designed using traditional Kathkuni Technique. This technique has many advantages like locally available materials, earthquake resistance, sustainable construction, etc.

CONCEPT :

Type: Peri Urban School Design Location: Sapad Village, Kalyan, Maharashtra Year: 2022 (Sem 4, 2nd year) Guide: Prof. Mustansir Dalvi Brief: To design a Secondary School in Peri Urban Area considering the local build typology and to have an after school hours function.

The plan is overall inward looking with few spaces outward looking.

In the selected rural area, one can see variety in built structures and typologies - some are old and small brick houses with thatch or mangalore roof, few are new RCC houses, while few are the blend of both.

To show that in the design, 2 different roof types i.e. flat RCC roof and traditional sloping mangalore roof with timber framing are used.

Every student irrespective of the locality has the Right to Education, which not only helps them in learning things, but also it helps them in the real world problems.

When a student enters the school, they start their journey to learn, study and gain all the knowledge. To represent that, a colourful striped path goes from main entrance to the library. Use of materials also represent the same.

THEME : The family is a joint family, where each member is of different age and naturally different likings.

The new generation ( son, daughterin law, daughter) mostly likes contemporary, modern design, while the old generation ( owner, his wife) generally prefers Indian or traditional style of design.

Yet they have differences in their likings, disliking, they are together as a family.

So, to represent that bond, what's better than a blend of both styles.
