Iron Dodecacarbonyl molecular formula is Fe3 (CO)
12. It is the first synthetic metal carbonyl cluster.
Compared with pentacarbonyl iron, it has more active chemical properties and is easier to decompose into elemental iron. It is dark green crystal, sublimation occurs under vacuum, accompanied by obvious decomposition. Dissolve in non-polar solvent to form dark green solution.
Heating the solution in air atmosphere will decompose dodecarbonyl ferric into iron mirror, and the solution will spontaneously ignite.

Iron dodecacarbonyl is widely used as a precursor in the synthesis of iron-based nanoparticles. With increased R&D in nanotechnology, the compound has gained prominence in sectors like catalysis, electronics, and biomedical imaging.
Due to its role in organometallic chemistry and catasis (e.g., Fischer–Tropsch synthesis), demand is rising in chemical synthesis, particularly in the production of fine chemicals and specialty materials.
To advance specialty metal-carbonyl chemistry through sustainable innovation, delivering highpurity organometallic compounds like Iron Dodecacarbonyl that drive progress in nanotechnology, catalysis, and precision manufacturing.
North America currently leads with 29% market share, valued at USD 18.45 million in 2023, primarily driven by extensive research activities in nanotechnology and semiconductor applications. While the region maintains a slightly lower CAGR of 6.00% compared to global averages, its technological sophistication in thin-film deposition techniques sustains market leadership.
Europe follows closely as stringent environmental regulations and increasing adoption of high-purity materials in electronics manufacturing fuel demand. The Asia-Pacific region demonstrates the fastest growth potential, particularly in Japan and South Korea, where semiconductor fabrication facilities are expanding capacity to meet global chip shortages.
