An open gate hot runner is a type of hot runner system used in plastic injection molding processes. In injection molding, a hot runner system is a manifold that distributes molten plastic from the injection molding machine nozzle to multiple cavities in the mold without the need for runners (channels) to be cut and removed from the final molded product. This results in reduced material waste and improved efficiency in the injection molding process.
In an open gate hot runner system, the gates (inlet points) through which the molten plastic enters the mold cavities are left open throughout the molding cycle. This means that the plastic material remains molten at the gate locations, allowing continuous flow of plastic to the cavities during the entire injection process. As a result, there is no solidification at the gate area, and the system is ready for the next shot almost instantly. The open gate design is particularly useful for rapid cycles and high-volume production, as it minimizes cooling time and enables faster production cycles.
The Global Open Gate Hot Runner Market Size was estimated at USD 645.63 million in 2023 and is projected to reach USD 789.05 million by 2029, exhibiting a CAGR of 3.40% during the forecast period.
