Introduction to CATIA- Computer Aided Three dimensional Interactive Application Abstract CATIA is multiplatform software used for mechanical design engineering which incorporates with Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). State of the art, computer aided three dimensional interactive application has developed into much more than CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. It is first developed by Dassault Systems in 1977 to develop their Mirage fighter jet. Later on it was adopted by the aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, and other industries. Dassault Systems is an European software development company that develops 3D design, 3D digital Mock-up, and Product Development Lifecycle (PLM) Software. Up till now Dassault system has launched six versions of CATIA. Scope in Various Areas of Application As Computer Aided Three dimensional Interactive Application supports multiple stages of product development such as conceptualization, CAD, CAE, CAM it is having great scope in various mechanical design engineering fields with different domains. It greases the wheels collaborative engineering across disciplines around its 3D platform, including surfacing & shape design, electrical, fluid and electronic systems & mechanical designing. Mechanical design engineering With the help of CATIA we can obtain 3D parts from 2D sketches, sheetmentals, and composites, molded forged or tooling parts up to the definition of mechanical assemblies. This software contributes advanced technologies for mechanical surfacing and BIW. The tools to complete
