This multifunctional urban infill project features a midrise building designed to enhance the vibrancy of the surrounding community through architectural and environmental interventions. By drawing connections to Cascades Park and the site, the project emphasizes diversity, density, and opportunity, creating a dynamic urban hub that integrates seamlessly with its natural and built surroundings.

The goal is to shape the built environment, conveying the design process integrate different factors and settings. The objective is to incorporate urban context. As well as using basic formal, organizational, and environmental principles.

Design a timber pedestrian bridge for FAMU. The bridge is to encourage accessibility to the campus as well as ADA requirements spanning from the Walter L. Smith Architecture building to the FAMU Tennis Courts. The objective is to see how the design reacts to the existing language of the site.

Design an Office for the 21st Century in Asheville, NC. Explore the challenges and implement passive designs for hot summers and cold winters.

05

Develop an innovative proposal considering the social/cultural/material/ technological and adptations that need to be addressed over the city of Barcelona in the next 25 to 50 years.

06

Develop a digitalmaterial process using software+machine+material skills to showcase a final module that is volumetric. This uses the CNC Machine with a 1/4” bit, 12” x12” foam board layered, VCarve CAM software, and Rhino.

07

Design a small apartment building in Kagoshima, Japan, located in the southern tip of Kyushu Island in Japan. The objective is to showcase the elevator and fire stair, along with each apartment getting its own balcony. The ground floor is to remain as car and bicycle space with and entrance/exit into the building.

SITE PLAN

CONCEPT

The Tranquil Twist Bridge creates a winding journey throughout nature. The essence of the curves are reflected in the different elevations in the environment. The aim is for students, faculty, as well as visitors to absorb the campus’ beauty while gliding through human design.

CLIMATE-RESPONSIVE DESIGN

ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

CONCEPT

The climate and energy is a big factory with structures for Asheville, NC. Materials like stone and containers would be used in this project. It would be used best due to any weather condition.

ORDERING SYSTEM

The ordering system develops the way in which the building will come together.

RADICAL ECOLOGICAL URBANISM

(NEXTA VIVA INSPIRA)

L’EIXAMPLE, BARCELONA

CONCEPT

NEXTA VIVA INSPIRA showcases the “Veils of Memory” embracing the idea of transparency. This space attracts inspiration from Barcelona’s urban fabric and cultural history The design uses veils as a metaphor for the multiple narratives that shape the city. These veils are shown through materials, spatial transitions, and architectural elements that gradually reveal meaning. This space invites visitors to engage with art and history through filtered perspectives, blurring the boundaries between the known and the

Started with my CNC cut mold.

Pour the plaster and water mix into the mold and let it sit for about 30 minutes before removing.

I used painter’s tape to seal the foam and not destroy it when pouring the plaster.

I took the bottom sheet of the mold off.

Once the painter’s tape was in all four molds, I used Vaseline as my releaser all around the mold for easy removal.

Because of the painter’s tape and Vaseline I was able to push the cast out easily. I repeated this process 4 times to get 8 modules.

1. The cast removed from the mold. 2. Each cast laid out. 3 Each cast put together to create each module.

RESIDENTIAL URBAN INFILL

KAGOSHIMA, JAPAN

The concept is connecting the natural beauty of Kagoshima and the main attracts of people to the apartment building. I want residents to feel like being at home is like visiting Sengan-en from the outside in.

PHYSICAL MODEL

Interlocking Cladding is something seen in modern architecture. Although it has a very flat appearance, it has a clean look with wide widths. This cladding has a wide variety of material that can be used like: aluminum, steel, zinc etc.. “Polystyrene can be placed behind the panels to reduce wind draw on high wind load applications.” Depending on the designer it can create a nice look either vertical or horizontal. This also looks nice with concrete.

Wood Cladding has a clean finish creating shadows through joint lines adding to the design. This also mimics the textures that the gardens and nature features. I would like to incorporate this through the exterior in an internal way.

Metal Cladding gives a modern design aesthetic. It holds LEED credits for controlling “air, heat, sunlight entering, reduce noise and wind.” Since Kagoshima can get very hot metal cladding protects moisture and temperature. In my design metal cladding can be a statement piece for my stairs.
