Welcome to our new company-wide newsletter, The Pulse! As part of our One MedAdvisor Solutions initiative, it’s important that we continue to build connections and improve communications across the company. We launched our quarterly Global Town Hall calls earlier this year with this objective in mind. I hope that this newsletter provides an additional way for us to further connect and collaborate as One MedAdvisor Solutions.
Speaking of collaboration, the recent global Hackathon was a great success! I really appreciate the great teamwork and amazing ideas. Congratulations again to the award winners! I’m looking forward to several of these ideas being put to work.
The Pulse is also another important part of our recent re-branding and re-enforcement of our new corporate Vision, Mission and Values! As we highlighted with the brand launch and again in the Hackathon, we are already living these values in many ways. We will continue to find opportunities, including in The Pulse to highlight demonstration of these values across our business.
As we highlighted in the FY23 Annual Report, we managed through a great deal of change in FY23 and managed to deliver 44.5% year-over-year growth in revenue and a significant increase in profitability. Ancila and I had the opportunity to discuss our results with over 40 current and potentially new investors during my recent visit to Australia. Our story is definitely resonating with the market and with investors! I want to thank each of you for your contribution to these amazing results.
We are off to a good start for the new financial year across the business. I’m looking forward to working with each of you, our partners and our customers to make FY24 even more successful.
It’s impressive to see how the two legacy companies have come together and have started to accelerate collaboration with each other across the regions, driving strong results. You will find examples of this collaborative success throughout this section. First, we’ll focus on our collective FY’23 financial results:
$98.0M revenue ($78.1M US & $19.9M ANZ)
60.6% gross margin
+$8.3M EBITDA improvement
$14.2M strong cash position
*All financials are in AUD, unless stated otherwise.
After months of research and discussions, a new finance system has been selected! The winner is Revenue Manager from Envestnet. Initial meetings and the kick-off have been completed, with a target timeline of being live for the US business in the next 90 days. This will eventually replace the current Hyperion and ABS systems solutions which will be retired next year.
Following the strategy work that was presented to the board in June, we are working to execute that strategy in each of our regions. In ANZ, the product team is focused on executing on the Full Scope of Practice work. In the US, the product team is focused on modernizing our existing products while also exploring new markets and new ways we can serve our customers. We will hold a strategy session in the ANZ and US to learn more about MedAdvisor Solutions’ global strategy and what it means locally to each region (coming in October!).
The ISO/IEC 27001 surveillance audit was successfully completed with only a few opportunities for improvement and minor non-conformities. Thank you to David Shulmister, Scott McAfee, and Jule Drown for working together to gather the requirements needed to make this audit successful! In addition, the Global IT Operations Team is working hard on centralizing our security tools to support our global business. We have selected Tenable for internal vulnerability scans, and Sumo Logic for our Security Information and Event Management (SIEM). We’re also moving to Phriendly Phishing for staff training and awareness of business email compromise. Be on the lookout for more updates to come!
Thanks again to everyone who participated in the Hackathon this year! The event was a huge success which fostered global collaboration, creativity, and generated several new ideas that will positively impact our business. In total, we had 22 teams and 95 participants worldwide! Based on feedback about timing, we have tentatively scheduled our 2024 Hackathon for this coming February and we look forward to even more participation and global collaboration next year! Look out for 2024 Hackathon details to be shared in the coming months.
The cutover to our medadvisorsolutions.com email addresses completed the week of 9/25. SharePoint and Teams cutover is scheduled for the second week of October and details will be shared shortly. Scott McAfee or Roger ChiodiWork continues on bringing the MedAdvisor Solutions B2B brand to life. Next will be the new medadvisorsolutions.com email addresses (ETA by 10/1), finalizing the PowerPoint template, completion of the digital brand hub, new website temporary pages/sections replaced with live content, defining our social media strategy, and developing a global product naming convention/hierarchy.
Our migration from the legacy Adheris Workflow and Program Setup systems to our centralized Monday.com workflow system continues. We will begin training for all users on the new system in the next month.
Our platform modernization and migration project is in full swing! The focus of this project is to develop scalable, cloudbased solutions that will allow us to centralize our services and modernize our systems to support our growing business and new product initiatives. Step one is the data migration from our on-premise Netezza instance to cloud based Google BigQuery We have successfully created our new data environment in the cloud and are in the process of moving data and updating our systems accordingly. We have also begun our migration from legacy systems to a new centralized application platform and have deprecated several legacy applications already. We continue to migrate our systems from our Orlando Data Center to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and plan to be completely migrated by the end of Q1 2024. The tech team is focused on driving this forward, and we will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.

Our evolution as an innovative leader in the market is resonating and resulting in impressive growth. And with our new rebrand, we are elevating how we show up to clients and partners and they’re leaning into who we are as MedAdvisor Solutions.”

Australian community pharmacies have been evolving their professional service offering over the past two decades. This accelerated in 2014 when the first Australian pharmacists delivered immunizations. During the pandemic vaccination service demands were significant and have sustained.
The next phase in this evolution is professional scope expansion in the form of pharmacist prescribing. In 2020, pharmacists in the State of Queensland (QLD) began prescribing antibiotics for Urinary Tract Infections (UTI). The success of that trial has resulted in enshrined extended practice authority in QLD, with NSW, WA and VIC all implementing pharmacist prescribing for UTI.
More services will follow on a state-by-state basis across services such as Oral Contraceptive supply, travel health and skin. Facing an immediate disruption to their revenue from the Australian Government’s new policy allowing patients to receive 60 days of medicine pharmacies are seeking new revenue streams to offset dispense fee losses. An expanded service offering redefines their value proposition and helps to maintain business viability. This movement has been heavily supported by the Pharmacy Guild of
Australia, State and Federal Governments, Universities and Patient groups.
In 2024, QLD will introduce a Pharmacist Prescribing Pilot for 23 service types. This will include expanded vaccination services, autonomous prescribing for minor ailments and structured prescribing for cardiovascular, diabetes, asthma and COPD amongst others. This offers state health services such as hospitals the opportunity to reduce workloads and offer patients faster access to quality health outcomes.
Supporting software and data reporting has been a fundamental capability in the pharmacy for these trials and their enshrined practice to grow and prosper. MedAdvisor Solutions has been a trusted partner for thousands of pharmacies and healthcare organizations in the rollout and expansion of these services. As Governments continue to open the gates of opportunity –MedAdvisor Solutions has been the preferred partner of choice to ensure rapid pharmacy network expansion and quality health outcomes for patients.
On Aug 1 / 2 Aug, an exciting global town hall kicked off. It was the grand unveiling and launch of the new MedAdvisor Solutions brand. The enthusiasm and excitement for our new look and the culmination of the ‘One Company’ initiative was amazing to see as the team got their first look at our new branding, mission, vision statements and new company values.
In ANZ, having the MedAdvisor Solutions brand launch aligned with the Australian pitch-day for the Hackathon meant that it was a day to remember as all business departments came together demonstrating that we really are One MedAdvisor Solutions. We’re excited to keep the momentum we created during the MedAdvisor Solutions launch and continue to grow our brand equity internally and externally as we further integrate our ANZ and US businesses.
The new MedAdvisor Solutions brand also went live externally with a grand unveiling at two regional conferences this summer.
The MedAdvisor Solutions US team attended NACDS Total Store Expo (TSE) which brings together leaders of national retailer chains along with top pharmaceutical companies. The team had a total of 31 meetings over two days. There was great excitement over the brand launch and the new booth and graphics. Many great conversations were had and established traction coming out of the conference for many opportunities for revenue and digital network growth.
Much like the NACDS event in San Diego, Pharmacy Connect in Sydney acted as our big MedAdvisor Solutions debut to the Australian pharmacy market. The multi-day event attracted over 1,300 delegates and is one of the most highly attended pharmacy conventions in Australia. Our new brand look attracted a lot of attention and positive interactions from customers, keen to learn about the implications and opportunities the new MedAdvisor Solutions can offer them. The highlight of the event proved to be Aaron D’Souza’s (Strategic Account Manager – Government Programs) guest speaker appearance where he presented on how MedAdvisor Solutions can drive loyalty, efficiencies, and revenue for community pharmacy in Australia. Aaron’s appearance was incredibly well received by all attendees, particularly in the context of expanding scope of practice and commencement of sixty-day dispensing as the pharmacy landscape evolves in Australia.
