Arkansas Future Grant (ArFuture) Promissory Note By accepting the ArFuture Grant, the recipient does hereby enter into an agreement with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE). Both parties agree to the conditions provided in Act 316, created by the 2017 Arkansas General Assembly, and the Arkansas Future Grant rules and regulations as established by the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board. GENERAL The recipient filed an application with the Arkansas Department of Higher Education for the purpose of earning a qualifying certificate or associate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), or a regional high demand area of study at an eligible Arkansas postsecondary institution. The Arkansas Department of Higher Education hereby contracts to pay the recipient the agreed upon amount, contingent upon availability of funds, payable in amounts as stipulated in the Rules and Regulations of the Arkansas Future Grant Program. The recipient understands that to be eligible to receive this grant he/she must: A.

have either graduated from an Arkansas public school, private school, home school or received high school equivalency diploma approved by the Department of Career Education; or verify that he or she has resided within the state for the three (3) years immediately preceding application and has either graduated from an out-of-state high school, private school, home school or received a high school equivalency diploma approved by another state; and Be enrolled part-time or full-time at an approved institution of higher education in a program of study that leads to an associate degree or a certification in a STEM or regional high demand field; and Completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and Agree to receive monthly mentoring from an organization determined by the Department of Higher Education; and Complete at least fifteen (15) hours of community service each semester he/she receives this grant; and Reside in this state for three (3) consecutive years and be employed beginning within six (6) months after receiving an associate degree or certification.
DEFERMENT The Department of Higher Education may defer the requirement to reside in this state for three (3) consecutive years and be employed beginning within six (6) months after receiving an associate degree or certification if: A. B.
The Department of Higher Education, in consultation with the Department of Workforce Services, determines that there was no employment position available that would reasonably enable the student to meet this requirement; or Special circumstances as determined by the Department of Higher Education exist.
