Aart de Heer

PhD Aart de Heer, born in the Netherlands (1958), has been working in different positions at several libraries in Finland. In 1999, he gained his degree in Information Studies and Library Science. De Heer’s dissertation dealt with information management and communication in international business. From 2000 until 2004 he worked as a postdoc rearcher at the Turku School of Business Administration (now: School of Economics,Turku University), and lectured on intellectual property rights and marketing issues. In 2004, he was appointed head of the acquisitions department at the library of Abo Akademi University in Turku. In 2015, he became director of Turku City library, and joined Helsinki City Library in 2018. De Heer's principal interests are related to library administration and management issues, like knowledge management, intellectual property and decision support. On these subjects, he has written some articles and compiled course literature.
