Welcome to the Carter Angus Production sale! It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome you to our annual sale this year. I know a lot of people say this, but I do think this is the best set of bulls and females that we have ever offered for the public appraisal.
Our philosophy has always been to keep the commercial producer in mind, because if you are not profitable, we are not profitable. The cattle industry is in an exciting time, with feeder calves bringing record prices, the salvage market is also at record prices as well. With that, we cannot fall asleep at the wheel. We cannot chase fads or extremes, but more importantly we breed cattle that are well rounded.
As you study this offering, I think you will be able to see that we don’t chase extreme numbers, however we do try to keep them in the back of our mind. We have tried to breed cattle that have moderate birth weights that then excel at weaning time. The carcass traits are just as important, but we can’t get held up on that single trait selection.
New this year, we are offering a group of front-end cows that are due to 44 Full Count, a bull we leased from Grimmius Cattle from California. From top to bottom these cows have big time earning potential for their new owner. Bid with confidence on them.
As you look through the sale offering, please don’t hesitate to call if you have any questions. We would be glad to talk through the cattle and help you find the right bull or female to fit your program. Visitors are always welcome to come to Vermillion and see the cattle at any time. Paisley and Kolt love to give farm tours! If you cannot be with us on the 6th, tune into DVAuction and bid from the comfort of your own home. Also, again this year if you would like another opinion on the cattle, please reach out to one of our sale staff and they would be happy to go over the offering with you.
In closing, thank you for taking the time to look at what Carter Angus has to offer you. We invite you to come out April 6th and view the cattle and have some great hospitality. A beef lunch will be provided before the sale, so bring the family and enjoy the day!
Thank You IN ADVANCE & SEE YOU APRIL 6,
Carter Angus

What a way to start our sale off with a bull that has been a standout all year! This bull will definitely be a bull to have on your list if you like them with extra frame and one that will add pay weight to a set of calves as he ranks in the top 10% of the breed for Weaning and yearling. An added bonus is he is out of a past donor cow for us that is a no miss cow as she has 3 replacements going in the replacement pen this year. Check out more information on her as she sells as Lot 35.
A stylish son of Teton who is moderate on birth but yet has adequate muscle and ranks in the top 25% of the breed for Ribeye and Docility. If you want to keep replacement females, this will definitely be one to have on your list as he ranks in the top 10% of the breed for $Maternal and top 20% for milk.

Another calving ease bull that has a little extra hair coat for those newborn calves to stay warm. This bull ranks high for Heifer Preg at 15%, PAP at 25%, and $W and $M in the top 10%. On the mother’s side goes back to the great Lady cow family and the grandmother would be full sisters to numerous donors in prominent programs across the country. Bid with confidence that he will move your program in the right direction.
The Annuity sire group as a whole is very consistent and I think will be well received on sale day. They are moderate for birth and grow darn nice from weaning into yearling. Another bull that the replacements will be darn nice with him ranking in the top 4% of the breed for $M and high for milk.
Here is a bull that if you are serious about putting pounds on a set of calves, here is a candidate that needs to be on your list. He ranks in the top 1% for Weaning

This bull came at the side of a cow that we would of purchased from Sydenstricker Genetics in Missouri that ranks well for Weaning and Yearling weight. He also ranks high for Heifer Preg and $Weaning. His sire is one that will add frame and length with being an outcross sire and added carcass merits.
Another bull that would be a heifer bull candidate. He combines the low birth weight, growth and extra frame from his sire, Grenade but also adds in the extra phenotype from his mother’s sire Silveiras Style. This bull doesn’t just excel in one or two traits, you can see he does a lot of things right. He would look good anywhere!
I think this bull here would work on heifers. With the combination of his 78-pound birthweight and ranking on his genomics on CED of 16 and his BW a 2, I think earn him that classification. He has extra maternal bred into him to give you a set of females going forward that you will really enjoy.
This bull’s mother has been a good producer putting bulls in the sale the last few years. They are very consistent in having extra weaning and yearling weight potential.

Here is a bull out of our herd bull that we purchased from Roth Angus in Freeman, SD. His calves constantly have extra length and have great calf vigor. That is one thing we have strived for. He comes from a cow that gets it done year in year out and is a very practical producer.
Another good calving ease bull candidate here. He is one of the younger bulls in the sale but definitely holds his own. His mother has been a good producer and has a bull working for Thompson Angus in Baudette, MN.

Another ET brother by Kenny Rogers that ranks high for weaning and yearling weight. This bull also combines good carcass traits as well as the $ values that will make you a very profitable cow outfit.
Here is a bull sired by Prolific that has been a hot sire group to sell this spring. This bull’s mother came from Chestnut Angus where she produced a $25,000 bull to Wilson Ranch in North Dakota.
Another bull out of the Moon Creek donor cow. The Wildcat progeny have added length and put a lot of grow into their progeny. This bull also comes with a moderate birth weight and added carcass traits.
type and kind I was hoping to get. He is a cool made Baldy bull that I think can make an aggressive cattleman profitable for many years. There are a couple full sisters in the keeper pen and can’t wait to get them in production. His mother is a Bankroll cow that is very functional and has a good udder to her. Bid with confidence on this calf and get ready for some awesome progeny.
This bull is packed full of red meat and a Baldy face to boot. His mother is another great producer and is among the kid’s favorite cows on the place. If you want to have some good replacement females and a set of steers that mash the scales down, this is your bull.
A solid black bull that is sure to add muscle and mass to a set of calves. He is one that sticks out because of his mass and phenotype and is in a very practical package.
Another long, deep sided bull that will produce a great set of calves. With Tear Drop passing away at a young age there aren’t as many calves out there as some bulls, but you can see these combinations flat out worked.

This bull’s mother was the high-selling bred heifer in the Lehrman Simmentals dispersion sale and has turned into a great cow. She has settled A.I. every year and continues to be a great producer. As you can see, we went a little old school breeding her to Dream Catcher and it has worked. Her son last year turned into a great bull that is at Phil Schoenrock and this guy will do the same.

Here is an exciting Sam grandson that is a half blood that will have some extra frame to produce some great steers. His mother is a great cow that has been a good producer and gets it done each time.
A baldy Sam son that has a good look to him and darn sure will make a good herd bull for his new owner. Imagine a set of Simm influenced females by him that will make great replacements.
This solid black Sam son catches your eye every time you walk into the pen. He has that cocky look to him and has some extra frame to go along with it. He is sure one to find on sale day, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
This one hurts to have in this catalog, and it is no fault of the cow. She has been a past donor for us giving us the Lot 1 bull this year when we flushed her to Grenade. Then we bred her back to Long Teton and had twin heifer calves that are both in the replacement pen along with one sired by Grenade that would all knock your eye balls out.
This cow’s mother has always been a great producer and has produced many winning heifers around the country. A maternal sister to 827 was a past Iowa Beef Expo Champion for the Collison Family in Iowa. Also still on the pedigree is Barry Hageman’s famous 5001 cow that has written her own history book on producing high end genetics that excel on all levels.
I think this cow is just hitting her stride and the mating options are endless. Bid with Confidence on this past donor and future donor for her new owner. She sells due to calve to 44 Full Count end of April.
Here is your opportunity to purchase a full sister to the A.I. sire Collison Alpa. If you want high end genetics to produce show stopping genetics this is your gal. She is ready to hit the donor pen and hit her stride with however you decide to mate her. Her mother needs no introduction to the Angus world by producing some genetics that have won at all levels in the show ring. A full sister to 235 was a past Bred and Owned Grand Champion for the Collison family. Bid with confidence on this one!
She sells bred to 44 Full Count and is due the middle to the end of April.
This cow has been an awesome producer for us. She has put bulls in the past couple sales and has a replacement heifer in the keeping pen that you wished you would have a 100 of. With a maternal pedigree with 1682, Final Answer and Ext you can’t go wrong. She is built for the long haul and mated to 44 Full Count should be a really nice combination to have a quick return on investment.
She sells bred to 44 Full Count due the end of April.

Here is a really nice ¾ blood Simmental sire by W/C Bankroll that goes back to our good Lock N Load donor that has been a great producer for us.
