DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
From constructing backyard bamboo forts in elementary school, to exhibiting my paintings in high school, to pursuing a degree in interior architecture at the University of Tennessee, creating has always been integral to my life. The process of transforming an abstract idea to a thoughtful solution brings me true fulfillment, especially when that solution is in service of others.
Design is fascinating to me because it’s inherently futureoriented, requiring a strong vision to communicate to others what does not yet exist. By creating sketches, building prototype models, and thinking with my hands, I can embrace unexpected discoveries and explore the boundaries of my mediums.
I approach design as a collector of ideas, textures, images, and experiences. As the University of Tennessee’s Material Library Assistant, I have had the unique opportunity to explore how innovative material selections can shape the human experience and impact the environment.
That sense of exploration fuels my passion for creating spaces that inspire curiosity and wonder across all ages. I am particularly drawn to the way children perceive the world: completely new and full of possibilities. I seek to capture that sense of discovery in my designs. To me, being a designer is not just a profession; it is a way of seeing, thinking, and engaging with the world.
