1. Char Dham Yatra involves rigorous trekking through tough terrains of the Himalayan region. Therefore you have to start preparatory exercises at least one month before the travel date. Walk about 3-4 km per day to increase your stamina. Breathing exercises or yoga asanas like Pranayam are great to build resistance against High Altitude Sickness. 2. During this yatra, feeling exhausted and thirsty is common. But never drink water from some clean natural source. Drink only bottled drinking water or from water vending machine. 3. During this trip, try to stick to boiled and well cooked food items as they are safe and healthy. Avoid cold and raw items like icy drinks, salads, raw vegetables etc. 4. Don’t forget to carry items from your first aid box along with some generic medicines to treat fever, headache, diarrhoea etc. Keep band-aid strips and antiseptic ointment in your bag for small cuts and wounds.
