layout, with Victoria Harbour and mountainous peaks encompassing the urban city’s perimeter, will be the stimulating factors which will lure guests from around the world.

A captivating impression will begin in the hotel lobby, and continue throughout the guest rooms and amenities.

The maritime fog that generates from the springtime climate shift between the harbour and the mountains will play a role in providing a dimness to the ambiance of the lobby; where the space will have a soothing, unruffled quality. ďżź

The Bodhi Tree, also known as the ‘Tree of Awakening’, is significant to Hong Kong in the sense that it is the root of its religious traditions. The Bodhi Tree is the tree under which Siddhartha

Gautama

enlightenment,

hence

achieved becoming

Buddha- the teaching of which Buddhism was founded. Much like the journey in which Buddha took to gain awareness and understanding under

the

Bodhi

Tree,

the

experience of dining in tree, is to be remembered as a journey.

The hanging roots of the Bodhi Tree provide a linear depth underneath the treetop. These hanging roots are so long and dense that they force one walking under the tree to create their own course through the space. The concept of the restaurant will be developed from the motion of creating your own journey underneath the tree.

Since the word Buddha is the title for ‘awakened’, Buddha will be a major role in aiding in the mood for the restaurant. The purpose of a fine dining establishment is to awaken the senses, both visually and tastefully.

The furniture piece has developed through many stages. Initially by two photos of shadows, the shape has transformed into a radial center with pieces stemming off of that center circle, the elephant table.

The two protrusions of

the circle have been designed to serve as shelving.

What the

diagonal shelve was intended for is to serve as a shelf where the

user

can

quickly

identify

the magazine, folder, book or paperwork that is being held.

If

built at a larger scale, the elepahnt table could serve as not only a functional piece of furniture, but also a uniquely shaped piece.

Property: Four-level townhouse in the prestigious Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago. Built in the 1880s and like many

homes of this era, is elongated and narrow, butting up against the neighboring homes.
