Men’s Footwear Fashions: What to Do about the Cuban Heel? If there’s one style of shoe that comes up repeatedly in the men’s fashion magazines, it’s the Cuban heel. People appear to be stuck in terms of the appropriateness of the heel. Is it OK to wear a Cuban heel? Will people laugh and make jokes? What do you wear with a Cuban heel? Yep, the questions abound. Today, we’re going to attempt to answer some of these commonly asked questions. By the time you reach the end of this blog, you'll have a decent idea as to whether these heels are right for you, or not. Is It OK to Wear a Cuban Heel? The short answer is “yes”. The longer answer is that it depends on your outlook. First, we live in the 21st century. That means we’re tolerant of arbitrary goings on, such as other people’s fashion sense. In this regard, anyone can wear a Cuban heel. Some people believe that it has feminine connotations, and so prefer to avoid it, but other people either don’t agree on the feminine connotations, or don’t care either way. You will find a great many types of men wear Cuban heels, and it’s not simply the reserve of the more flamboyant amongst us. If you love to wear an eclectic wardrobe, then they certainly have their place. They’re a relatively formal shoe and they look great with things like tailored suits and well-fitting shoes. In particular, shorter men love to wear men’s Cuban heels. The heels can add an inch or two of height without making the person appear as if they're wearing high heels. That’s because the narrowness of the shoe serves to offset the height of the shoes. Will People Laugh and Make Jokes? People will always laugh and make jokes about anything they can think of. There isn’t a person alive who can escape having jokes made about them. In that respect, it’s certainly possible for people to laugh at your new shoes…if you're an adult, hanging around with other adults, this is highly unlikely. In adulthood, we tend to leave the immaturity of dragging people down to make ourselves feel better behind us. A well-rounded adult won’t laugh at you for experimenting with a new fashion – they’ll pay you complements instead, and may even consider adopting the same style themselves! If they laugh, and it’s malicious, it simply shows you that you're hanging around with the wrong people. Walk away in your fancy heels and don’t look back!
