Homegrown Housing

The Highline Gymnastics Center (HGC) is a ninestory mixed-use structure built in response to increased demand for housing and the ongoing need for American health and fitness. The building itself is a product of its surrounding environment. It aims to link seamlessly with adjacent structures and the Highline Park. The Highline Gymnastics Center creates a sense of transparency through its rhythmic glazing system. The HGC splits its private and public uses and materiality through sustainable rain-screen panels to become a vessel of the arterial Highline park. This will flow from the connection with the Highline on 26th street, throughout the facade, and end with the HGC’s connection to the sky plane.

PROPOSEDREUSEPLAN

The Pondhouse

Designed to be a new neighborhood in the village of Alfred, NY, this master plan community includes several contemporary style houses and various amenities. The Pondhouse is a two story home designed with an emphasis on its surrounding environment. It aims to bring its users closer to the natural environment through its unique features. Some of these include a large balcony which hangs over a pond native to the site.

The Pondhouse

Single family residential house based in Alfred, New York. Through the use of exaggerated overhangs and cantilevers the structure creates large presence that encloses a small ecosystem within its boundaries.

SPRING 2022

Gradient Spaces

The Hudson River’s ice boating community is one of rich history and stories. People have been sailing the river’s ice since the late 18th century, creating a culture behind the activity which the people of the Hudson have grown to value. However, due to the global climate crisis, and a lack of outlets of promotion, the community fears the end of ice boating is near. The Athens Riverine Museum & Education Center aims to offset this problem through representation, community building, and civic engagement. This museum is not simply a space for holding these relics of ice boating history, but one that will be used to reinvigorate the culture.

Gradient Spaces, is an amplification of the surrounding context. It reflects the relationships and interactions between the different zones that intersect the site and between the zones themselves. From the indiscriminate current of the Hudson, to the man made hardscapes, the spaces in between gradiate within the building in three dimensions.

Primitive Furniture

This approach to this design incorporates the use of sliding pieces which will work to showcase items in either a more active coffee table, or passive display shelf. The sliding pieces work to counter balance eachother giving the user an interactive experience. SPRING 2024

Embark on a journey through the visionary modular system crafted by Japanese architect Takuto Ohta. Meticulously researched and documented, each block’s dimensions were carefully selected for replication, unlocking a realm of design possibilities. With strategic precision, dynamic configurations were crafted seamlessly transitioning from furniture to shelving, from sculptures to towering totems. Each creation stands as a testament to innovation, blending form and function in elegant harmony. Witness the versatility of furniture, the sophistication of shelving solutions, and the captivating allure of sculptural masterpieces. This project epitomizes dedication to precision, creativity, and pushing the boundaries of design, offering a glimpse into the transformative power of modular architecture.

Analytical Visualization

This project entails the systematic measurement of various rooms within a residential space, followed by the creation of precise as-built drawings. By recording dimensions and details, a comprehensive understanding of the spatial layout was achieved. These measurements were then translated into orthographic drawings, capturing the accurate representation of each room’s layout and proportions. Subsequently, a virtual 3D model of the space was constructed, offering a dynamic visualization from an axonometric perspective. Lastly, the individual room forms were amalgamated into a unified building structure, depicted through X-ray visuals and sectional perspectives. This exploration offers insights into the interplay between individual spaces and the larger architectural context, enriching the understanding of spatial relationships and design possibilities.
