In a bid to offer more opportunities for young people in their community, the staff at Swanmore College decided to offer the Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification. The school’s Transition Manager and tutor of the qualification, Ruth Minshull, explained that the course was developed after hearing repeated requests from parents. She said: “We were hearing from parents who wanted their children to know what to do should they encounter an emergency situation relating to a child or baby. We already had young people interested in childcare as a career so it made sense to offer them this qualification** In response to a growing demand for specialist paediatric first aid training, Active Training World has launched the Highfield Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Qualification. As children develop at a much faster rate than adults, it’s important that they’re provided with the correct care when injured or ill. This paediatric first aid course will provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to administer emergency first aid to children in a range of environments, including nurseries, schools and playgrounds. The qualification will also equip learners with the skills needed to administer emergency first aid to babies up until their first birthday. Learners will develop skills in how to deal with a range of paediatric emergencies, including burns and scalds, head injuries and choking. Paul Shaffer, Managing Director of Active Training World said: “We’re delighted to launch this new qualification, which is designed to meet the needs of those working within childcare settings. At Active Training World we pride ourselves on offering qualifications that are tailored to specific industries and contexts.
