Pedestrian Crossing
Pedestrian crossing on Capitol Boulevard at Island Avenue, near Boise State University.
ACHD proposes a signalized pedestrian crossing on Eagle Road at the canal. The crossing will form a Z (see the photo above) and has several advantages:
TWO STAGES
Pedestrians and bicyclists cross the street in two stages, one side at a time.
ONE DIRECTION
At each stage the pedestrian or bicyclist only has to look in one direction to cross the street.
NAVIGATION WIDTH
The configuration makes users face oncoming traffic as they navigate to the next stage of the crossing, increasing safety. The crossing will be wide enough for bicyclists to easily navigate.
