Target audience: Ages 25-40, stay at home parents who are the primary produce buyers for their family. Upper middle class, food and health conscious, particularly interested in the source of the foods they eat. This audience is very social media savvy. Description: The open-air market will bring the European market atmosphere that Central Market strives to portray in their stores to an outdoor environment. There will be many individual booths set up with different types of foods. People from produce farms in the local area will staff the majority of these booths. There will be a strong social media push to promote this grass roots type of event, which will require a hashtag. All of the vendors will use card-swiping technologies on their mobile devices that automatically pay the producers while still making money for every transaction. This will serve several purposes for Central Market. One, it will provide a lot of business for a time that is usually not very busy for the store. Second, it will provide a very unique experience for customers of Central market who are able to meet the people who grow the food they eat. Third, it will create a social media buzz about the quality and social responsibility of Central Market. The target audience will enjoy that products are locally sourced and more traffic will be created for Central Market during normal store hours.
