Level 2 Risk Assessment

This Highfield accredited course provides participants knowledge of the basic health and safety practices which are essential in the workplace and helps progression to higher level training. Everyone has responsibility for health and safety including including employers employees and visitors. Topics covered include; understanding your responsibility, the benefits of good health and safety, risk assessments, hazard control in the workplace, emergency procedures andincident recording.

This Highfield accredited course provides learners with an awareness of the benefits of risk assessment in any workplace environment.

It is designed to give employers, supervisors and employees in all sectors a fundamental outline of the risk assessment process and equip them with the skills required to undertake a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.

It also prepares participants to move onto further training while informing them of the responsibilities of employers, the main causes and costs of work-related fatalities and injuries, as well as the role of risk assessment in the prevention of accidents and ill health, the requirements of a risk assessment, and methods of evaluating risks.

Level 2 Safe Moving and Handling DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This Highfield accredited course introduces participants to moving and handling activities.

It is suitable for anyone starting work, returning to work or who may require specific training in manual handling as part of their upcoming or existing role. It may also be used as refresher training for those working in an environment involving the manual handling of goods.

On completion participants will understand and demonstrate the importance of manual handling practices within the workplace.

DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This Highfield accredited course gives participants knowledge of the laws governing hazardous substances in the workplace, understand the role of risk assessment in ensuring the safe handling of these substances, and learn the necessary precautions and procedures to effectively manage associated risks.

Level 2 Award in Principles of Fire Safety

DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT

Every employer is legally obliged to ensure their place of work is safe and that the team is equipped with a sound understanding of fire safety regulations. This Highfield accredited course gives participants knowledge of fire safety.

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone.

Level 2 Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

DURATION: 3 DAYS This Highfield accredited course provides participants with the skills to assist the recognition and management of illness and injury in the workplace – which offers more in-depth knowledge, allowing the participant to conduct a full assessment and administer first aid for a wider range of injuries as well as major illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, stroke etc.

Level 3 First Aid at Work Refresher DURATION: 2 DAYS COST: £225 + VAT This Highfield accredited refresher course allows participants to retrain for the qualification over two days providing that they have a valid and current certificate. Participants will refresh their skills related to the management of illness and injury in the workplace.

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This Highfield accredited course gives participants the knowledge, understanding and skills in first aid in order to enable them to work safely, effectively and efficiently in the workplace this includes CPR, managing an unconscious casualty, assisting a casualty who is choking and wound management.

Level 3 Paediatric First Aid DURATION: 2 DAYS COST: £150 + VAT This Highfield accredited course provides participants with the skills to manage life-threatening emergencies, as well as how to manage common paediatric illnesses and injuries. Topics include basic life support, choking casualties along with illnesses such as sickle cell anaemia and meningitis.

Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator DURATION: 0.5 DAYS COST: £60 + VAT This Highfield accredited qualification is designed for participants who wish to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills in treating a casualty who is unresponsive but breathing and a casualty who is not breathing.

Participants will learn how to provide CPR, use a defibrillator and place a casualty in to the recovery position.

Canine First Aid DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT Participants will develop an understanding of the importance of first aid for dogs, recognise common emergency situations, learn how to prepare a canine first aid kit, assess a dog’s health, CPR and rescue breathing for dogs. Participants will also learn how to assist during a choking incident, wound management, handling fractures and sprains and keeping yourself safe. This course is suitable for dog owners or anyone who regularly works or interacts with dogs.

Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This Highfield accredited course provides participants with the basic skills to manage life-threatening emergencies and injuries faced by children and infants. You may already be in post, but do not need to be in employment to gain this qualification. This course will cover CPR, managing an unconscious casualty, assisting a casualty who is choking and wound management.

This course provides essential knowledge about dementia, including its symptoms, stages, and impact on individuals and families. The course equips participants with practical skills to support and care for those living with dementia, fostering empathy and understanding.

This course is designed to teach participants how to identify steps leading up to a possible conflict and how to diffuse the situation.

Suitable for anyone over 18 years old.

Participants will also learn how to remove themselves from confrontational situations in the workplace or at home, using techniques that do not require physical strength.

Level 2 Award in Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This Highfield accredited course provides essential knowledge of the responsibilities in safeguarding children and young people. Participants will know how to safeguard children, young people and practitioners in the workplace, as well as how to respond to evidence or concerns about abuse.

This course is suitable for anyone working, volunteering or seeking employment in the childcare or teaching sector.

Safeguarding and Protecting Vulnerable Adults DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT Provides essential knowledge on the responsibilities around safeguarding vulnerable adults. The course will inform participants on how to safeguard vulnerable people and practitioners in the workplace, as well as how to respond to evidence or concerns of abuse.

This course is suitable for anyone working, volunteering or seeking employment in the care sector.

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This Highfield accredited course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to deliver principles of cleanliness and hygiene, as well as keeping food products safe. Once completed, the programme satisfies the legal requirements for all food handlers.

Level 3 Award in Food Safety in Catering DURATION: 3 DAYS COST: £220 + VAT This Highfield accredited qualification is aimed at managers and supervisors working in catering, manufacturing or a retail business environment.

It is particularly relevant for those who have to develop or monitor Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) based food safety management procedures and systems.

Topics covered include ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, the application and monitoring of good hygiene practice and how to implement food safety management procedures.

Safety Awareness Introduction to Exploitation Awareness

This training will help you identify the signs and indicators of abuse and what to do if you suspect someone becoming involved or vulnerable to exploitation including gang activities. Participants will learn how to identify the signs of exploitation in Children and Adults. Those attending the training will be able recognise and act on discovering potential causes of vulnerability.

They will learn how to access the victim pathway and key support processes for potential victims.

This is suitable for anyone who comes into to contact with a person susceptible or vulnerable to exploitation.

This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and resolve conflicts in the workplace, fostering a more harmonious and productive work environment.

Introduction to Interviewing and Questioning DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT Participants will learn how to develop a structured approach to interviewing. This training will provide the interviewer, with a process, to achieve the best opportunity to gather detailed information from interview and how to use appropriate questions to facilitate detailed answers.

Introduction to Writing Statements DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT Suitable for any organisation who are required to provide any form of statement for internal, or external process including civil or criminal process.

This course will provide a structured approach to presenting information including any evidence.

Key topics include statement structure, factual and objective writing and legal considerations.

Conflict Management Awareness DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT This 1 day course aims to raise the awareness of potential strategies to consider when dealing with confrontation, and how to prevent such circumstances from arising. It focuses on the ability to actively listen and respond to situations where there is a risk of conflict or confrontation.

Introduction to County Lines DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £80 + VAT The training helps participants identify the signs and indicators of abuse and what to do if you suspect a child or young person is becoming involved in County Lines. Those attending the training will be able recognise and act on discovering potential causes of vulnerability.

Wellbeing Improving Own Confidence

Resilience Skills

Confidence is a key factor in whether people succeed in life or not, it is a pivotal building block in a person’s ability to achieve. A lack of confidence can mask a person’s true ability therefore, building confidence is key to helping people succeed.

Aimed at helping participants to progress in their professional and personal lives, this new course challenges perceptions, inspires and encourages students in an innovative and dynamic way.

This course gives participants the knowledge to understand what resilience is and how it can impact one’s life. It challenges participants to reflect on their own resilience skills and provides the tools to build and improve them, both in their personal life and in the workplace.

Resilience training helps you concentrate on the positive aspects of life and adapt to challenging situations. Enhancing your resilience can boost your quality of life, strengthen your emotional fortitude, and reduce stress and anxiety.

Resilience and Stress Management DURATION: 2 DAYS COST: £150 + VAT A two-day course aimed at supporting people with developing their resilience, as well as recognising their own strengths and opportunities to develop. Participants will be able to define what stress is and identify symptoms of stress, identify their own stressors and develop ways to support themselves and others. Participants will be encouraged to participate in activities, with the primary assessment method being completion of a workbook during the training.

Mental Health Awareness (Limited to Wales) DURATION: 0.5 DAYS COST: £80 + VAT This course is delivered by a licensed Mental Health First Aid Wales trainer. The Mental Health Awareness course is based on international MHFA Guidelines and explores the key mental health issues that may affect people, whilst providing key signposting to support.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (Limited to Wales) DURATION: 2 DAYS COST: £225 FACE TO FACE, £175 ONLINE + VAT This course will be delivered by a licenced Mental Health First Aid Wales trainer. Mental illnesses often start in adolescence or early adulthood, and it is important to detect problems early to ensure the young person is properly treated and supported. The course is suitable for anyone pursuing a career in teaching and learning, or those already in roles such as school staff, parents, guardians, sport coaches and youth workers.

It provides learners with the knowledge on how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

Mental Health First Aid Refresher (Limited to Wales) DURATION: 1 DAY COST: £180 FACE TO FACE, £150 ONLINE + VAT This course will be delivered by a licenced Mental Health First Aid Wales trainer.

Participants will revisit, update and refresh their knowledge of mental health challenges and evidence-based treatments. The course provides a safe and supportive space to practice skills and receive constructive feedback, helping participants feel confident in the subject, whilst requalifying.

Essential Skills The first stage to completing an essential skills qualification is an initial assessment, using an online system called Wales Essential Skills Toolkit (ES). An assessor will then discuss the best options for achieving the qualification. We use the results of these assessments to determine how best to develop an individual’s skills.

The level of the qualification undertaken depends on the assessment outcome e.g. if an individual is assessed currently working at Entry 3, they would undertake a Level 1 qualification (learners are not able to skip levels).

Delivery of the qualification can be face to face sessions at an ACT centre, or via remote sessions online. Session times vary between 1 hour online and half days or full days face to face. Qualifications take an average of 5-7 weeks to complete.

Essential Skills Digital Literacy Level 1-3 DURATION: 5-7 WEEKS Completing the digital literacy qualification provides learners with the skills to navigate through the digital world. They will learn how to utilise appropriate digital tools and technologies to support them in their job role, or socially in their day-to-day life. They will develop skills and build confidence with their digital footprint, staying safe online, securing data, creativity, researching information effectively and much more.

Essential Skills Communication Level 1-2

Essential Skills Application of Number Level 1-2 (AON)

DURATION: 5-7 WEEKS

DURATION: 5-7 WEEKS

Suitable for anyone looking to improve communication skills, including speaking and listening skills, which builds confidence in workplace situations, such as, delivering presentations or contributing to meetings or written communication skills, to gain confidence in spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Completing the AON qualification will help individuals to develop their numeracy skills which are valuable for everyday life and workplace situations. They will gain skills that will support them in problem solving, data analysis, financial and money management, which could lead to new career opportunities. By developing these skills, they can become more confident in all things numeracy.

Learning & Development Level 3 Award in Education and Training

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

DURATION: 3 MONTHS

DURATION: 9 MONTHS

This qualification is for anyone interested in or embarking on a role in teaching, or training within adult or alternative education, or learning support roles in another organisation. No prior training experience is required, but delivery of a microteach session is necessary to pass. Participants will gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a trainer in relation to legislation, EDI, and meeting learners needs. They will be able to sequence learning, plan and deliver sessions.

They will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.

This course is for professionals who assess both occupational competence in the workplace, as well as vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than at work (for example, in workshops, classrooms or other training environments). It is an industry standard qualification equipping learners with the skills they need to assess the competence of learners and their vocational knowledge in almost any sector.

Those completing the course are qualified to pursue a wide range of assessor roles.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement DURATION: 6 MONTHS This course is for practitioners who assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally-related subject areas assessment methods such as assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL.

Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment DURATION: 6 MONTHS This qualification is for anyone interested in or embarking on a role in teaching, or training within adult or alternative education, or learning support roles in another organisation. Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in Work Environment DURATION: 9 MONTHS For practitioners who assess competence in vocationally related subject areas who use assessment methods such as observation or examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of witnesses or learner statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

These assessments may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.

Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice DURATION: 9 MONTHS For practitioners who lead the internal quality assurance process within a centre/organisation and have a responsibility for managing the quality of the assessment process, practice and the performance of assessors. They may also develop systems and have line management responsibilities whilst leading on External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits. This qualification will require the learner to have completed the City & Guilds Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.

Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

DURATION: 9 MONTHS

This course is for candidates in an Internal Quality Assurance role looking to progress in the quality assurance sector. It supports practitioners conducting internal quality assurance of the assessment process within a centre or organisation by sample planning, monitoring and advising on the practice of assessors.

This is a knowledge-only course for those who are starting their journey as an internal quality assurance practitioner, or for those who need to know about internal quality assurance but who are not carrying out quality assurance themselves.

This might include experienced assessors or centre managers, HR or quality assurance personnel.

Breakaway & Restraint Breakaway Training DURATION: 1 DAY This course is designed to teach participants how to identify steps leading up to a possible conflict and how to diffuse the situation. Participants will also learn how to remove themselves from aggressive situations using techniques that do not require physical strength. This is a practical course requiring active participation from participants.

Breakaway Restraint & Conflict Resolution DURATION: 2 DAYS This course is designed to teach participants how to identify steps leading up to a possible conflict and how to diffuse the situation.

Participants will also learn how to remove themselves from aggressive situations using techniques that do not require physical strength. Some organisations will require the use of restraint techniques where simply escaping from the scene will not ensure the safety of the victim and the aggressor.

This is a practical course requiring active participation from participants.

Physical Intervention Policy Development (Breakaway Training Policy Consultation) DURATION: 1 DAY This course is designed to provide relevant skills and knowledge that will allow the development of a justifiable, proportionate and necessary Physical Intervention Policy. Participants will be able to identify when a policy is required, its purpose and its use. Participants will be able to create a Physical Intervention Policy, relevant to their organisation, its practise and the requirements of the relevant circumstances. Participants will demonstrate the legal requirements, organisational and personal responsibilities in completion of a Physical Intervention Policy.
