WBA staff love to turn up the heat with a little friendly competition! In Summer 2018, staff showed off their culinary skills in a salsa contest. Judges Emile Durette, Lilie Sailele, and Lisanne White had diffi cult choices to make. Helen Wong-Zelaya’s rendition of a classic salsa took home top honors.

INGREDIENTS

Use fresh ingredients: Roma tomatoes Red onions Cilantro Salt and pepper Olive oil German lime

INSTRUCTIONS

Make the salsa the same day you plan to eat it. Hand chop the vegetables and season just before serving.

Salsa verde caliente

INGREDIENTS

5 jalapeño peppers 10 serrano peppers 1 onion 1/3 bunch of cilantro 1 garlic clove 1/3 cup olive oil Salt, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Grill all peppers, onion, and garlic. 2. Blend all ingredients, adding the cilantro, salt, and oil as you blend.
