Welcome

Welcome to the Minis Rugby Festival at Amersham & Chiltern RFC.

We are delighted that so many great clubs could join us for what is an exciting time for Amersham & Chiltern. Many of you may have seen the plans for improvements to the grounds and clubhouse, including a new artificial pitch along with padel courts. I hope that with the continued support of members, the local community and our friends here today from other clubs we will succeed in our goal.

Good luck to all the visiting teams and we hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable festival this year, let’s hope the weather has also been good to us. Amersham & Chiltern RFC and I must say that it has been such a rewarding time, seeing so many young children grow and develop their skills both on and off the pitch. One of the key areas that we focus on is the embodiment of TREDS: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

This applies to everyone involved in rugby, from the players to the coaches, to the parents, the spectators and all the volunteers that allow us to run events like this. We need to remember that we are setting the example by which the children will set their own standards. So, I would like to reiterate the words many of us found on a board at A&C when we first joined the club and still live on the Club walls today:

• These are kids

• This is a game

• The coaches are volunteers

• The referees are human

• This is not the 6 Nations!

We are also very grateful for the sheer number of sponsors that continue to support us and recognise the importance of rugby within the local community. A Special Thank you, once again, this year to SDE who is our main sponsor for the festival.

Enjoy the day, respect each other and have some fun!

Important Information

Car Parking:

There is sufficient car parking available within the club grounds, but we strongly recommend that you arrive EARLY to avoid disappointment in the event of a high spectator turnout.

Please follow the directions of the marshals. Some of the neighbouring roads, particularly Weedon Lane (leading to the Club) will be coned and designated as ā€˜No Parking’ as a courtesy to the residents. When leaving the Club, a ONE-WAY system will be in operation. Please turn RIGHT. This will lead you back to the main road.

In the event of heavy rain, if the organisers consider that parking on the Club’s grounds is not practical, alternative arrangements will apply. These are that all cars will be turned away at the club entrance, cars will be directed to the public car park in the centre of Amersham located on the A4154 Rickmansworth Road, 10-15 minutes walk away. The start time of the festival may be delayed in this event.

Facilities:

Changing rooms, showers, toilets, professional first aid, contacts for emergency services, and a variety of refreshments including hot and cold food, drinks and sweets will be available throughout the day. Boots must NOT be worn in the clubhouse.

Photography:

PhotoDay will be onsite to provide their usual excellent services including access to the full gallery online after the event.

Please note by entering children in this festival parents/guardians implicitly agree and accept that:-

• Photographic images may be taken of their son/daughter during the normal course of rugby activity, by accredited photographers and/or other parents/guardians

• The images may be used in the local press or in club publicity, in line with the RFU guidelines for the welfare of young people in Rugby Union.
