Class Notes 4

1947 Regina Snyder sent in a photo of a group of friends and classmates at a 1993 gathering at TGIF’s in Albany. Pictured, left to right, are Eleanor Downes Maloney ’48 of Albany, Regina of North Carolina, the late Mary Davidge ’45, Jo Stancampiano McClimans of Schenectady and the late Louise Swendsen Maggiacomo (Photo 1). All got together on a regular basis when Regina used to travel to her summer home in Richfield Springs, reuniting most of the seven “pharmacy girls” in their class. Regina met with other North Carolina alumni at a reception held in October.

1948 Lucille Cerro, widow of Armante Cerro, sent in a picture of Armante with niece Shannon Hogan ’12 (Photo 2), now quite a bit bigger and a student in the Pharm.D. program at ACPHS. Armante was the owner of the Hess Pharmacy in Boonville until 1987. He served on the Board of Trustees at ACPHS for 14 years and was named as vice chair in 2000, a position he held until his death in 2001.

1966 Ray E. Richardson and his wife Janet, of Charlotte, N.C., celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 6. Ray was a pharmacist for the House of the Good Samaritan, now Samaritan Medical Center, and for Kinney Drugs in Malone, Ogdensburg and Watertown. The Richardsons have a son, Rande, and daughter, Kara, as well as two grandsons.

1972 Judy Michela Beaulac wrote to update us on her new job. After almost 24 years as a staff pharmacist at HealthAlliance Hospitals in north central Massachusetts, Judy has taken a job with Cardinal Health Rxe-source in Marlboro, Mass. Rxe-source (pronounced “resource”) is an order entry service designed to maintain continuity of service when hospital pharmacies are closed or during periods of peak demand. Currently, Judy’s office covers 10 hospitals from New Hampshire to Cape Cod. Orders are scanned to Rxe-source by fax and entered directly into the hospitals’ pharmacy systems via the internet. Judy says it’s a challenge to keep up with the “rules” for order entry at each hospital and to know how to use each system. But, the position allows her to be a hospital pharmacist “without all of the side issues that come with working in the hospital” and she is enjoying it immensely. She just concentrates on order entry and determines if the prescription is clinically appropriate for the patient…“pure pharmacy,” in her words. “One more avenue that pharmacy graduates can consider after having had a few years of experience,” she says. Judy would love to hear what other 30
