Colaboramos con artesanos mexicanos y juntos, reinventamos objetos utilitarios y decorativos utilizando técnicas artesanales transmitidas de generación en generación, logrando así un diseño atemporal, basado en una rica cultura ancestral y creando piezas de valor no sólo material, sino también sentimental.

Nutrimos nuestras colaboraciones mediante la investigación, conversación y experimentación. Cada pieza es hecha a mano y bajo pedido, siempre manteniendo fuertes lazos con el patrimonio cultural de México.

Crema Maya

Piedra caliza Limestone Piedra natural caliza, considerada también como marmol por su dureza y baja porosidad.

Conocida comúnmente en la región como Crema Maya, extraida en el municipio de Opichén, Yucatán. Posee una tonalidad que va del claro al beige con vetas cafés y rojizas.

Natural local limestone featuring tones that varies from light to beige with brown and reddish veins. Considered marble as consequence of its hardness and low porosity. Commonly known in the region as Crema Maya it is quarried in the municipality of Opichén, Yucatán.

Colección Criollo

Esta colección pretende propiciar una conversación sobre su origen y el proceso detrás de su elaboración. Criollo habla de dos elementos importantes en la cosmovisión agrícola de la cultura Maya; el maiz y sus guardianes, los aluxes. Antiguamente estos seres eran representados en barro y se les rendía ofrenda para la protección de la milpa. Los contenedores buscan reinterpretar el rito, rindiendo tributo al maiz, elemento pivotal de la cultura y mitología maya.

The form behind the pieces is intended to encourage conversation about their origin and process behind its elaboration. Criollo talks about two important elements in the agricultural cosmovision of the Mayan culture: corn and its guardians, the Aluxes. In ancient times, these beings were represented in clay and were worshipped for the protection of the cornfield. The containers seek to reinterpret the rite, paying tribute to the corn.

Los cálidos tonos terrosos de Crema maya se adaptan fácilmente a espacios minimalistas o funcionan como contraste en ambientes más oscuros.

Crema maya warm earthy tones easily adapt to soft minimal spaces or work as a constrast in darker atmospheres.

La imperfección de la superficie, no solo refleja el pulso de la talladura a mano alzada del artesano, atestigua también, el nivel de habilidad técnica requerida. La crema maya aparenta una optica blanda y suave, en donde al tacto resulta en un perfil robusto y firme. La colección pretende serenidad, a través de sus trazos amables y sombras desvanecidas, sin embargo, sorprenden por su rigidez y peso al ser sostenidas.

The imperfection of the surface not only reflects the artisan’s freehand carving pulse, but also attests to the level of technical skill required.

The crema maya stone appears of soft and smooth optic, which when touched feels robust and firm. Criollo aims to communicate serenity, through gentle strokes and faded shades, however it surprises by its rigidity and weight when held.
