Inside TLLT Edition

We are delighted to annouce the growth of The Legacy Learning Trust

This term the regional director advisory board met to consider applications from three Middlesbrough primary schools to join TLLT. Those schools are Abingdon Primary School and Children’s Centre, Newham Bridge Primary School and Breckon Hill Primary School. We are delighted to share that the three schools have been approved and the process for joining TLLT is beginning and they are all currently in a process of formal consultation with their stakeholders.

This is excellent and long awaited news that will secure the future of our Trust and will provide many exciting opportunities and challenges going forward.

There is a further school that we will hopefully be able to share more good news about early in the summer term. This will see us grow from 2 to 6 ‘Good’ schoolsa position we are very proud to have brought to you.

Let us introduce you to the three schools beginning their journey of joining TLLT.

We are very proud of our staff at LCPS and AGS who are undertaking Mental Health First Aid training. They will be the first mental health first aiders across the trust. At TLLT we are passionate about promoting good mental health and want to provide a positive workplace environment for all.

After Easter, we will be launching our trust wide wellbeing calendar for Acklam Grange and Linthorpe staff. We have some new and exciting activities that we can’t wait to launch, as well as our new wellbeing programme, ‘Wellness’.

Eid Celebrations

Muslims all over the world started observing Ramadan on Thursday 23rd March. On behalf of The Legacy Learning Trust, we convey Ramadan greetings.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and is a religious holiday and a time of joy for many of our staff, children and families.

Linthorpe will be celebrating with an Eid Festival for pupils and their parents/carers on Thursday 27th April after school. There will be food and drink stalls, dance performances, a fashion show, henna art, dance workshops, craft activities and a pre-loved traditional clothing stall.

LCPS Ofsted Celebration Day

To celebrate their wonderful Ofsted report, Linthorpe held a celebration day in February where they invited in MP Andy McDonald and Darlington Football Club.

Pupils also had the chance to take part in various activities throughout the day to represent the three LCPS arches, academic rigour, the arts and sport, as well as talking about what Ofsted means to them.

To finish the day, staff and students created the school logo on the field.

Red Nose Day

For Red Nose Day, AGS Student Leaders held a competition where students could win the chance to paint the face of a member of staff. Thank you to our volunteers Mrs Wilson, Mr Flint, Mr Portues and Mrs Nolan!

Andy Preson visits LCPS

Mayor of Middlesbrough, Andy Preston, visited Linthorpe this term to speak to pupils about their National Curriculum + offer and the wealth of opportunities available to them at LCPS. Andy said that the staff and pupils do something special within the school and are brimming with confidence and ambition.

PRIDE Pod on Tour

After launching the PRIDE Pod this academic year, AGS have now taken it on tour around the school! Students are celebrated for not only their academic success, but for their participation in Enhanced Curriculum too. This term they have celebrated students all over school, including Girls Cricket Club, Art Club and AGS Scholars.

Ex-student secures

Middlesbrough FC contract

We are so proud of former Linthorpe and Acklam Grange student, Law McCabe, who has recently signed his first professional contract with Middlesbrough FC. It was lovely to hear from his parents about how much our schools have helped Law on his journey.

LCPS Road Safety Officers

Linthorpe have recently appointed this year’s Junior Road Safety Officers. Their role is to spread awareness about road safety and help keep other pupils safe. They have also introduced road safety mascot, Salvador the Squirrel, to work alongside our Road Safety Officers.

Year 7 student wins Go-Karting competition

Last month, Acklam Grange Year 7 student won a Go-Karting championship. What a fantastic chievement.

Family Fitness

This term, Linthorpe have launched their brand new Family Fitness session. Pupils and their families had the chance to talk about their goals, how they can improve their diet, and they took part in some exercises as well.

Year 11 Maths Conference

During the last half term holiday, Year 11 students were invited in to take part in a Maths Conference. They focused on revision and mock exams. We want to say a good luck to the students for the important term they have ahead.

Year 3 pupil surprises classmates with violin performance

A Year 3 Linthorpe pupil surprised his classmates, and Mrs Mitchell, with a wonderful performance on the violin. He showed MAGICAL values and received a special ‘Mrs Mitchell thinks I’m MAGICAL’ sticker for showing independence and ambition.

AGS Girls netball team receive message from England Netball

In February, the AGS Year 7 and 8 netball team were rewarded for their outstanding performance in recent matches. They enjoyed Hot Chocolate with Mr Laidler and were even recognised by the England Netball team who tweeted them a well done message!

AGS launch brand new CPA Academy

In January, AGS launched their brand new Creative & Performing Arts Academy to students. They also welcomed X Factor contestant and Capital Radio host, Sam Lavery, to speak to students about the industry, as well as answering their burning questions.

LCPS London trip

This month Linthorpe have been on an exciting trip to London for the first time since the pandemic. Year 5 pupils went on a whistle stop tour of the capital and enjoyed a trip to the theatre to enjoy The Lion King Musical.

AGS and LCPS pupils attend HeadStart event

Acklam Grange and Linthorpe pupils attended a HeadStart event in The Live Well Centre in Middlesbrough, to take part in lots of different activities promoting good mental health. They also had the opportunity to ask Mayor of Middlesbrough, Andy Preston, some questions about his role as Mayor.

AGS launch new N-Compass Award programme

In September, AGS launched their N-Compass Award programme, where students can collect stamps to achieve Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and PRIDE Awards. Congratulations to the first set of students who have achieved Bronze and Silver this term!

LCPS receive Activ All Boards

Recently Linthorpe have received new Activ All Boards for children to access during PE, break time and their brand new Activ All Club! The boards will challenge pupils’ coordination, problem-solving skills and their movement. What a fantastic fitness tool for pupils to access.

CPA Academy students put on performance of Annie

In February, the AGS CPA Academy performed Annie after months of rehearsals and preparation. Congratulations to all the staff and students for an amazing performance!

Handwriting winners enjoy a trip to Jump 360

LCPS handwriting winners enjoyed a trip to Jump 360 as a special reward for their hard work and fantastic handwriting.

Duke of Edinburgh Awards

This term, AGS celebrated their Duke of Edinburgh students with an awards ceremony for those who have achieved their Bronze and Silver Awards. The students received their certificates after completing a number of expeditions and activities.

LCPS World Book Day

Linthorpe pupils celebrated World Book Day by coming to school in their pyjamas and having the opportunity to read lots of books, as well as taking part in different literacy activities including making bookmarks!

Sports Academy students visit Manchester

AGS Sports Academy students headed to Manchester in March to visit the National Football Museum, Old Trafford and finished the day watching Manchester City vs RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

World Maths Day Times Table Tournament

In March, as part of World Maths Day, LCPS celebrated with a Times Table Tournament. Congratulations to Aisha who came out on top as LCPS Times Table Rock Stars Champion.

Looking forward

Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies

LCPS are currently working hard on their summer show, Robin and The Sherwood Hoodies, which they will once again be performing in the AGS Performance Hall. We can’t wait to see this spectacular show.

CPA Academy summer shows

The AGS CPA Academy are preparing for their summer concert which will be a showcase of music, drama and dance with a TV & Film theme. We know this will be a fantastic show brimming with talent!

This year, Drama Club will also be performing a play called ‘Scary Play’, about a group of ten year olds at a sleepover birthday party who, on a dare, decide to sneak into a deserted and supposedly haunted house. This sounds like one not to be missed.
