Care and Support roles provide direct care. They focus on supporting people to maintain and/or improve physical, cognitive, emotional, and social health.

Nurses hold an essential role in providing clinical care and working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to offer compassionate and person-centred support.

What do you do?

“At ACH Group, I lead a team of 11 nurses who provide general nursing support for older people in their homes. The support includes wound care, cognitive testing, monitoring of vital signs, weight and appetite and any other general nursing requirements.”

What does a typical day look like?

“Each day, I make sure the care and support we are providing to customers is of the highest quality. I do that by working with Care Managers, General Practitioners, customers and families to get the best outcomes possible.”

Why do you enjoy most about your role?

“In aged care, Nurses have the privilege of really getting to know people and building meaningful trust and connection. I enjoy seeing familiar faces each week. We get to focus on improving and maintaining health over the long-term, which is very different to a hospital setting where the focus is on acute care (immediate treatment).”

“Community nursing is so flexible. We have quite a few nurses with families who do six-hour shifts so they can do the school drop-off and pick-up.”

Hospitality & Domestic Services

Hospitality and Domestic Services contribute greatly to the quality of life for older people.

There are many roles in this area who work together to create an outstanding, person-centered resident and customer experience. Teams include catering, cleaning, laundry services, as well as home domestic services.

Hospitality and domestic workers can work either in a customer’s home or in a residential care home.

Unlike other hospitality operations, working in aged care offers meaningful work, personal fulfillment, stable and predictable employment, and a positive work-life balance.

“I visit customer homes across Adelaide to deliver a cleaning service. I support around 30 regular customers across Adelaide and work three days a week.”

“The independence of working in the community directly with customers really appealed to me. ACH Group has such an amazing support structure that they build around community workers that makes you always feel safe and supported. Even though I do the job alone, I never feel alone.”

Placements offer students the essential hands-on training required to complete their studies and gain practical experience in their chosen field.

At ACH Group, students are supported by a dedicated Student Placements Team, ensuring they can learn directly from industry professionals while developing practical skills in a real-world setting.
