How to Build the Basketball Court at Home Backyard

If you are a sport enthusiastic and crazy for the basketball game, then you have to build your own basketball court in your backyard.

When you found a small part of your home useless, just install a hoop above your garage to create your own basketball court.

In your backyard, you can use the spaces for making a beautiful court. Apart from this, you can also add a surface to or stencil out in your surface.

For creating a basketball court, you have needed two basketball pole hoops, tape measure, twine, four stakes, court stencil kit, concrete, shovel, and masking tape.

If you have a separate space in your home backyard, then you can follow these steps to build your own court without any hassle.

Determine the size

Generally the court size is 94 ft x 50 ft and in high school, the courts are only 84 ft long. For a half court, you can divide these numbers in half.

Make sure that you will choose a flat surface to make your job easier and create a place in which you will put the basketball goal.

Install the hoops

Since you are making a dedicated basketball court for your home, then get some dedicated goals into the ground by installing the hoops.

If you are building a full basketball court that has enough space to play in it, then take the two hoops for putting the ball in it.

Mark the dimensions

You can mark out the dimensions of the court with a tape measure or a surveying level if you have the access to use it.

You need to tie some rope around the stakes to measure the size properly. In this way, you can mark the dimensions of the court completely.

Level the field

For a complete basketball court, you have to level the field. So, clear out everything from the field without the dirt within the area you have just marked.

Through this process, you need to move out the dirt from the higher areas to lower ones for a smooth court.

Install a concrete foundation

When the weather in your area is dry, set the concrete which takes minimum 36 hours to install. At the time of concrete, install the pole hoops 1- 2 feet into the ground.

Then stabilize the concrete and make sure that you will install the concrete from 10 ft height to the top of the rim.

Choose the surface

For the basketball court, the surface of the court need to be chosen very carefully because the wrong surfaces may affect your playing.

The modular suspended tile surfacing will easily hold up your driveways and available in the market with paints such as rubber flooring, custom floors, and asphalt.

Final words

If you have planned for creating a new basketball court in your home, then it's always advisable to consult with a professional before choosing the surfaces.

While installing the surfaces in your basketball court, take the help of the expert who has enough professionalism to handle it smoothly.
