Discussion Letters to a Birmingham Jail The history of humankind is characterized by disorder, unrest, and violence. Philpott (2015) pointed out that human beings have long tried to improve their living conditions and quality of life. In so doing, they evoke conflicts and disorder that affects others leading to injustice, violence, riots, and disorder. Violence and riots reflect the human struggle against injustices and discrimination against certain groups. The conflicts occur between the oppressors who possess certain privileges and the oppressed lacking access to such privileges. In the face of injustices, Christians should view circumstances in their understanding of biblical teachings. Since the Bible clarifies and instructs people to obey those in authority, Christians should not take matters into their hands. Instead, they should nonviolently liaise with the authority to devise long-lasting solutions to eradicate discrimination against certain groups and prevent injustices. The bible clarifies that the battle does not belong to followers of Christ but to God (Ewing, 2020). Therefore, when faced with injustices, Christians should remain calm and let God reveal Himself.
