Military Sexual Trauma among Veteran Women About 280,000 women were deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, forming at least 12% of the deployed teams, a number that has been increasing gradually since then. Ideally, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) had no safe zones. Thus most women experienced hostile fronts and contributed to more combat casualty care. Therefore, the increased number of women veterans from previous conflicts has led to growing attention on evaluating their stressors, mental health, and how differently they are treated compared to men. The article evaluates strategies based on key thematic bases, such as the health care system, clinic care environment, and the therapeutic relationship, to enhance the access and use of mental healthcare services for veteran women.
