Hospital-acquired pressure injuries have been classified as major complications for hospitalized patients. These complications can potentially result in non-healing wounds, scarring, long-term care, prolonged hospitalization, sepsis, and even death (Shieh et al., 2018). Pressure injuries are categorized into four stages per their severity with stage 4 being the most severe. Pressure injuries amplify the burden of care for all parties involved including the patient, the family and the hospital. Notably, huge sums of money are used in treating individual patients who develop pressure injuries.
