1 Was the Leadership at Fault for the Abu Ghraib Prison Abuse? Introduction The abuse of human rights is an issue that generates a lot of interest in the West and other democratic nations across the world. The revelations about the abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad is an issue that has left an indelible mark in the history of the U.S. handling of suspects in its cells abroad. The incident led to the prosecution of about seven soldiers from the 372 for crimes that included sodomizing prisoners and sexual abuse of naked prisoners (Center for Public Integrity, 2022). In addition, the incident raises concerns about who was responsible for the abuse. Thesis The leaders were at fault for the Abu Ghraib prison abuse because it failed to take necessary measures to detect, act on, and prevent abuses in prisons.
