The special health needs that should be considered when educating this group include the risk of hearing, memory, and sight loss.

Discussing death and dying with the elderly helps reduce the anxiety associated with death and ease their transition into the next life. It gives the dying the chance to communicate their wishes, feelings and needs (Alftberg, Ahlström, Nilsen, Behm, Sandgren, Benzein, Wallerstedt & Rasmussen, 2018). Such conversations help the elderly understand and choose their end-of-life care options.

11. Explain how to teach a patient with a life-threatening illness Patients with life-threatening illnesses should be taught about their illness clearly and truthfully. This should be done reassuringly but not provide false hope or false information (Alftberg et al., 2018).
