SONORO BY ANDREW

ANTONACCIO

Project M Space, Urban Nation Museum, Berlin.

Moniker Culture, in its first partnership with Urban Nation Museum in Berlin, Germany, presented the works of Andrew Antonaccio, more commonly known as 2Alas, in a timely solo exhibition grappling with social and environmental crisis as it reached unprecedented scale.

For Sonoro, 2Alas explored the materalistic excesses that had led society on a race to the bottom brazenly dressed up as ‘progress’, and the notional cure that existed in the forms of renewal, repurposing, and reinvention.

To represent this struggle in powerfully visual terms, alongside his exhibited works Antonaccio leveraged his unique techniques in a subversive manipulation of garbage cans to create a sound and light installation, forcing attention to grave questions of deliberate manufactured obsolescence, the material crave then discard of consumer culture, and the rapidly narrowing chance to set things right.

The exhibition was curated by Moniker Culture and supported by Urban Nation Museum.

Sonoro, sound installation, 37 metal trashcans and audio equipment.
