The ACAP University College academic year consists of three trimesters with an intake each trimester and one census date each trimester. Included in this booklet is fee information for higher education courses. Courses may not be available at all campuses; please refer to acap .edu au/courses for more information.

Students enrolled at census are liable for fees applicable to that unit.

COUNSELLING COURSES

DIPLOMA OF COUNSELLING SKILLS

The Diploma of Counselling Skills provides an introduction to the field of counselling and provides graduates with a strong skills foundation and theory base from which to provide community service and counselling support within the community services and health industries.

BACHELOR OF COUNSELLING

The Bachelor of Counselling provides students with a comprehensive and flexible approach to theoretical, experiential, and skills-based learning. Students will learn strategies to successfully explore a career in contemporary counselling, including how to support individuals, couples, families, or groups, considering the cultural and social-political context in which they live and how this may affect them. The course is delivered in small group environments on-campus, online and by blended delivery (nine counselling units) by well-qualified and experienced academic teachers using quality curriculum.

MASTER OF COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY

The Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy teaches an advanced understanding of counselling and psychotherapy practice, as well as developing the high level skills needed to practise as a professional counsellor and psychotherapist.

MASTER OF PSYCHOLOGY (CLINICAL)

The Master of Psychology (Clinical) covers specialist areas of clinical psychology as well as developing skills and knowledge in core professional areas. The Master of Psychology (Clinical) provides a fifth and sixth year sequence of professional training in psychology required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia. The program also provides the basis entry to the clinical psychology area of practice endorsement registrar program through the Psychology Board of Australia.

MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK (QUALIFYING)

The Master of Social Work (Qualifying) is an entry qualification into the social work profession, with strong industry recognition. It is designed for professionals in the human and community services sector wishing to gain a postgraduate qualification in social work. This course provides graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to professionally and actively navigate the complex profession of social work and to develop their professional identity as a social worker.

STUDENT SERVICES AND AMENITIES FEE

The Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) is being introduced in 2024 to fund programs and services to benefit all students’ physical, mental, social, career and cultural wellbeing – from recreational and sporting activities to entertainment and events, plus career and employment advice.

The fee is charged per trimester and for 2024, the fee is $108 for full-time students and $81 for part-time students, and capped at $326 per year. Please check our website for any updates to fees.

Your SSAF is not covered under FEE-HELP, but eligible students can apply to defer part, or all, of the fee through SA-HELP, or pay upfront.
