Lake Worth Community Middle School

Principal’s Message Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s): It is my distinct pleasure that this edition of The Warrior Watch serves as the official opening and welcome to the 2015 School Year!!! It is amongst creating plans for next school year, attending professional development seminars, preparing for faculty, throughly cleaning our campus in preparation for students’ and faculty’s arrival this fall, and the like, that I find words to inspire you. The summer allows us the opportunity to recharge, and the start of each school year offers us the chance for new beginnings. As we begin to think about the upcoming school year, I, on behalf of the faculty and staff, implore you to partner with us in your child’s education. Many of you are aware that the FCAT Writing, Reading and Mathematics assessments ended last year. You also should have received those results for your children. Remember, a score of 3

or higher is the score that shows proficiency! At this writing, we have just received our 2014 School Grade of a “C.” Based on the preliminary results, we have a lot of hard work ahead of us. Although most of the FCAT is no more, the science section of the FCAT still remains for our eighth graders, and another assessment that promises to be more rigorous and a true measure of what all students should know nationally makes its debut this spring. It is with a sense of urgency and purpose that we meet the challenges of education we will face, and your commitment to your children’s education is so important to their educational success. I am encouraging you to be involved in their education, and although you may not always be able to be here physically, one certain way to be involved is to maintain communication with us. This can be accomplished by checking your student’s agenda and EDLINE for important information, dates, home-work, etc. In addition, attendance is important to your children’s success in school; as such, I would appreciate you encouraging them to attend school regularly and to also be on time. Furthermore, encourage them to read at home, even if it is simply the newspaper, and then check for comprehension by asking questions on the reading. If you need more information on how you can help your children to be successful at Lake Worth Middle School, please do not hesitate to contact your children’s counselor or a member of the administrative team. I look forward to meeting each of you and to having a successful school year. Yours in education,
